Going to valet, wearing a cardigan around your neck and taking cocaine: The most ‘rich’ traits of 2023 – and how to know if people secretly call you a ‘cashed-up bogan’

A viral online questionnaire has revealed the surprising signs someone could be rich in Australia by 2023, and how to know if you’re seen as ‘trashy’.

Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson, who both earn an estimated $5 million a year, took the quiz live on their KIIS FM show on Monday and were quite surprised by their results.

According to the test, someone who produces movies or TV shows is more likely to be considered rich.

The same is said for people flying on a private jet, or sitting in first class on a commercial flight.

Rich people are also more likely to have a nanny or housekeeper, use an unlimited credit card, own a Range Rover or snort cocaine.

Other signs of wealth include having a second marriage, signing a prenuptial agreement, owning pearl necklaces or cufflinks, and using big and impressive words.

Being ‘obsessed with Africa’ – whether it means ‘saving’ poverty-stricken Africans or going on safari – is apparently another sign of prosperity, as is using cosmetic creams from luxury skincare brand Augustinus Bader.

Owning rare or expensive books, visiting private islands, wearing designer clothes, getting a degree from a prestigious or international university and even hiring escorts are also on the list.

Other telltale signs of deep pockets include owning a Swiss bank account, knowing how to sail, hiring personal bodyguards and security, having a financial advisor or lawyer, owning a mudroom or wet room in your home , and using an attendant for shopping.

Owning inherited fine jewelry is also a sign of wealth.

Wearing Ralph Lauren cardigans over your shoulders is also a sign of wealth, according to the quiz.

The quiz also provided a description of someone who would be considered ‘trashy rich’ – a category that both Jackie and Kyle fell into after tallying their results.

“Your life is defined by designer brands, fast cars and private jets,” the quiz reads.

‘You hint at wealth every step of the way, and think money is the answer to everything. People roll their eyes when they see your not-so-subtle braggadocio and call you a “cashed bogan.”

Both Kyle and Jackie did well in the test, with both ticking off enough points to put them firmly in the ‘rich’ category.

Kyle, who previously bragged about his $100 million business empire, answered yes to producing TV shows as he previously created the hit Amazon Prime series Luxe Listings Sydney.

He regularly flies on a private jet and when he has to fly commercially, he always buys a first-class seat.

Both Kyle and Jackie have had the privilege of enjoying second marriages, with Kyle noting, “Most people are broke after the first marriage falls apart.”

They all own a Range Rover, with Jackie recently splurging on a $300,000 Range Rover Sport, while Kyle owns a $180,000 Range Rover SVR, along with a fleet of other luxury vehicles.

The couple, who each have one child, also hires a nanny and housekeeper to make their lives easier.

Kyle went on to say that he has two black AMEX cards and admitted to using cocaine and escort services in the past, while Jackie checked ‘no’ for these categories.

Interestingly, both radio hosts said they never signed a prenuptial agreement.

Kyle, who recently married his second wife Tegan Kynaston, explained: ‘No, I said no to that. I didn’t want a prenuptial agreement because it’s out of love.’

Jackie, who split from her second husband Lee Henderson in 2018, agreed, saying: ‘I’ve never done a prenuptial agreement before.’

Hilariously, Kyle felt sheepish after learning that wearing a Ralph Lauren vest around his shoulders was a sign of wealth, as he wore that exact item of clothing during the segment.
