Netflix’s new Terminator series gives the unstoppable killing machine its own anime
The Terminator will return in 2024, in animated form, on Netflix. As part of its Geeked Week promotion, Netflix and Skydance unveiled their take on the sci-fi series originally created by James Cameron, with the first teaser for the Terminator anime.
When it was originally announced in 2021, showrunner and executive producer Mattson Tomlin said the anime series would “approach Terminator in a way that breaks convention, subverts expectations, and has real guts.” Tomlin’s credits include writing the stories for Matt Reeves’ The hitter (and its sequel), that of Netflix Project powerand Capcom’s planned Mega Man movie.
Production IG, the veteran anime production studio known for its work on series like Ghost in the shell, Haikyu!!And Psycho Passlends his creative talents to adapt The terminator for animation.
Whether Netflix’s anime version of Terminator will change the wrestling franchise remains to be seen. But it can actually only rise as a result of the poorly received 2019 figures Terminator: Dark fatewhich brought Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton back to the franchise, but was a commercial failure.
