Shah attacks Cong on OBC welfare, says it opposed Mandal Commission report
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday questioned Congress’ commitment for the upliftment of the other backward classes and said the party had been opposing and suppressing the Mandal Commission report for years.
Shah’s attack on the Congress comes at a time when the party has promised to conduct a caste census in Madhya Pradesh if voted to power.
The Congress, which claims that a caste census will provide the actual number of OBCs, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes to provide them more benefits, has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of opposing the exercise.
While addressing an election rally at Betma in the Depalpur Assembly seat in Indore, Shah said, “What has the Congress done for the OBCs? The Congress has suppressed and opposed the Mandal Commission report for years.”
“The Narendra Modi government has given 27 percent reservation for OBCs in educational institutions. More than 35 percent of ministers in the Modi government are OBCs. It was this government that gave constitutional recognition to the Backward Classes Commission,” Shah alleged.
Modi himself comes from a poor family and the welfare of the downtrodden, including OBCs, Dalits and tribals, is taken care of by his government, Shah said.
The Modi government made Droupadi Murmu, who belongs to a poor tribal family of Odisha, the president of the country.
He further attacked the Congress and said, “Lord Ram has been waiting for 550 years to see when his great temple will be built at his birthplace. But Congress has delayed, distracted and avoided the construction of this temple for the past 70 years. “
The Congress used to sarcastically ask when the temple would be built, Shah said.
He said he wanted to tell the Congress that the idol dedication of the Ram temple in Ayodhya will take place on January 22 by Prime Minister Modi.
While asking people to vote for his party, Shah said a BJP government in Parliament will provide ‘darshan’ of Ramlala (in Ayodhya) to people of the state on a rotational basis.
Calling Congress a dynastic party, the Union Home Minister said Sonia Gandhi wants her son Rahul Gandhi to become Prime Minister while (Congress President) Kamal Nath and (Rajya Sabha MP) Digvijaya Singh are trying to to make their sons the prime minister. from MP.
“Can those who are in politics do good for their sons and daughters for the OBCs, tribals and Dalits,” Shah asked the crowd.
“In Madhya Pradesh (Congress), the orders of the Gandhi family are being followed. Kamal Nath is directing as per this order and if any mistake is made, Digvijay Singh will be slapped for it,” Shah alleged.
Parliamentary elections will be held on November 17, while votes will be counted on December 3.
