A 20-year-old animal lover has died in a car crash on a remote Outback road in Queensland.

Taylor Grittner, 20, died in the crash near Lyndhurst, southwest of Cairns, on Thursday.

She was a passenger in the car. The 17-year-old female driver of the car was flown to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Thea Ormonde, whose son was friends with Mrs Grittner, said all her friends were “in shock”.

“She was a beautiful girl and the community is devastated,” Ms Ormonde said.

“It’s just a shock, you don’t know what life will bring, she was just a happy girl and so young,” she said.

Anyone with information about the accident, which happened around 6.20pm on Thursday, is asked to contact police.
