Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene forces a vote on the impeachment of Sec. Alejandro Mayorkas after two of her constituents were murdered near the border by human traffickers. Mayorkas has lost control of the border by “intentionally” allowing in terrorists, human traffickers, drugs and other contraband, Greene claims in the resolution.

The Georgia lawmaker decided to take action after two of her constituents were recently killed in an accident involving a human smuggler.  Earlier this month, Jose and Isabel Lerma, an elderly couple from Greene's District in Dalton, Georgia, were driving from their home to Mexico when they were killed in a head-on collision with a human smuggler fleeing police in Texas.  'This is not acceptable!  Alejandro Mayorkas is failing in his duty to secure our southern border and my constituents are dying!”  Greene wrote on X.

The Republican introduced a privileged resolution Thursday that would force a vote within two legislative days to fire the secretary of homeland security.  The vote to impeach Mayorkas will likely take place early next week as the House leaves for the weekend on Thursday.

“Through his willful admission of border crossers, terrorists, human traffickers, drugs and other contraband, Alejandro Nicholas Mayorkas has failed to maintain operational control of the border, thereby violating the Secure Fence Act of 2006,” the resolution alleges.  Texas Rep.  Tony Gonzales, who represents 800 miles of the border in Texas, told DailyMail.com that he worked with Greene on the measure.  “Enough is enough,” he said.

The moderate Republican was cautious about the move to oust the secretary earlier this year.  Under the Biden administration, some border agents have apprehended migrants some 6.6 million times, and an estimated millions more have evaded Border Patrol.
