For a solid decade Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey millions of viewers captivated by their red-hot romance and extraordinary chemistry in ABC’s hit medical drama Grey’s anatomy.
And on Wednesday it finally happened: the show’s famous ‘McDreamy’ crowned People magazine’s ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ for the coveted annual issue.
But for his former TV flame it was an ordinary day.

Although the actress has yet to comment publicly on Patrick’s big award, it was clear that she was busy with her own errands and life.
As exclusive photos from DailyMail.com show, the television star loaded up on groceries at the popular and expensive Erewhon Market in Calabasas, California.
She filled eight bags and maneuvered two shopping carts back to her black Mercedes in the parking lot.
With a striped cardigan, white T-shirt, blue trousers and sneakers, she cut a casual but chic figure while grocery shopping.
She pulled her hair back into a tight ponytail and accessorized with Gucci aviator sunglasses, and casually tossed her designer handbag into one of the carts.
For a grocery drive of that magnitude, especially from celebrities, Erewhon employees are typically needed to help customers transport their goods to their cars.
But Ellen showed that she is not a diva and did it on her own.

Her hair was tied back in a tight ponytail, she wore a white T-shirt, a striped sweater, blue slacks and white sneakers

But the relationship lasted ten seasons β 2005-2015 β and captivated viewers with the rollercoaster romance.
Off-screen, the actors have remained friends and have even said they would like to work together again.

βI think the fans would absolutely love it.β
She left the show in 2022, admitting in interviews that “playing the same role for 19 years turned her brain into ‘scrambled eggs.’
When Drew Barrymore asked on her talk show what she planned to do, she said, “I have three kids and so I take care of them, and it’s very important for me to be around them and more for them to be present.’

Dempsey, meanwhile, has been married to his wife Jillian, 57, since 1999 and is father to the couple’s daughter Tallula, 21, and twin sons Darby and Sullivan, 16.
Although the handsome actor has been featured in the annual People issue in the past, he had surprisingly not been on the cover until now.
βI was completely shocked, and then I started laughing,β he told People, βlike this is a joke, right? I’ve always been the bridesmaid.’
He added: βI’m glad it’s happening at this point in my life. It’s nice to get the recognition, and certainly my ego gets a little boost…’
