I’m an interior designer and these are the three popular home style trends I’d never dare have in my house

A top interior designer has shared three popular things he would never use to style a home.

Loren Kreiss from the US said he will never suggest a white kitchen, leather sofas or designer dupes in his projects.

The home stylist called white kitchen cabinets ‘sterile’ and leather sofas ‘simply ugly’, while rejecting cheap furniture.

Many applauded Loren’s handsome shots, while others strongly disagreed, saying they loved their white kitchen joinery and leather sofas.

The first design choice on Loren’s no-go list was white kitchen cabinets because despite their popularity, they were “sterile, lifeless and basic.”

“If I introduced them to a customer they would punch me in the face and I would deserve that,” he joked.

Secondly, Loren was not a fan of leather sofas.

“People love them because they think they’re indestructible, but they’re expensive, slippery, sticky and usually just plain ugly,” he said.

“They’re hotter than hell in the summer and colder than your ex in the winter.”

Finally, Loren said dupes and knockoffs were the “terrible wedding cover band” of the interior design industry.

“Why would you want something fake that steals someone else’s idea?” he asked.

Many designer furniture items have been duped time and time again as people want to rip off famously expensive pieces.

For example, Hans J. Wegner’s timeless CH24 Wishbone chair, which can cost up to $1,500, has been remade countless times since it came onto the market in the 1950s, but very few are genuine.

Loren said that instead of buying rip-offs of a different design, home stylists can find original or authentic pieces to suit any budget, from local businesses, thrift stores or online marketplaces, for example.

The interior designer shared his controversial opinions online video which attracted thousands of viewers and caused a stir among viewers.

‘White kitchens are classic, sleek and fantastic. “I typed that from my leather couch,” one woman said.

“I have a faux white leather kitchen,” another joked.

“Dupes on furniture are just way cheaper than the actual designer version…$500 vs $3000 is a big difference,” a third commented.

Many fully agreed with Loren’s grievances, with one person laughing: ‘Leather sofa = the 90s are haunting your house’.

“I celebrate what you said about white kitchen cabinets. I thought I was the only one. Thanks,” a second replied.

‘No more white cupboards! They did a great job,” someone interrupted.

“I completely agree with everything on your list. I have a leather couch and I wish I didn’t have it!! It’s hot, sticky, scratches easily and I paid too much to get rid of it,” said a fourth.
