Magic Johnson says the NFL is ‘very happy’ that Travis Kelce is with Taylor Swift for publicity as he laughs off Jimmy Kimmel’s idea that one of his Commanders players should date her
Travis Kelce may be the one dating Taylor Swift, but according to Washington Commanders minority owner Magic Johnson, the entire NFL is enjoying the budding romance.
On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Lakers legend appeared on Jimmy Kimmel’s show, where the host pressed him about the much-discussed Kelce-Swift relationship.
“Have one of those Commanders players date Taylor Swift, if you can,” Kimmel said. “Because it just seems like you’re making so much money.”
Kimmel appeared to be referring to the Kansas City Chiefs’ growing number of endorsement deals.
Johnson, who is in his first season as part of the Commanders ownership group, didn’t hesitate to reveal the league’s joy over the Kelce-Swift pairing: “Well, the NFL is very happy with that whole situation.”

But Johnson isn’t just interested in sharing the spotlight with Swift.
He has won nine rings in his role as Lakers manager and co-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Sparks and LAFC, in addition to the five NBA titles he won as a player. So with the Chiefs going 4-0 in Swift’s presence, Johnson naturally sees the 33-year-old as something of a good luck charm.
“Make sure she lets us win too,” Johnson said. “I want the money, but I’d rather have the Super Bowl.
“Now you have to remember: I have fourteen world champion rings.”
