Pregnant Lucy Watson shares hospital photo as she reflects on fertility journey, revealing she and husband James had ‘abnormal’ test results while trying to conceive

Former Made In Chelsea star Lucy Watson shared a hospital photo as she reflected on her challenging fertility journey in a Q&A on Instagram on Wednesday.

In September, the 33-year-old revealed she was pregnant with her ‘miracle first child’ with husband James Dunmore while they were on holiday in Mykonos.

And now she’s sharing more of her journey to having a child, opening up about her and James’ “abnormal” test results while trying.

A fan asked her on social media, “Did you have any abnormal results on the tests you had done?”

She then responded, “A large number of our tests came back as ‘abnormal’ even though she was wearing a hospital gown and hairnet during the procedures.

She also revealed that they had been tested to see if they were carriers of cystic fibrosis – after James sadly lost both of his sisters to the genetic condition.

One follower asked: ‘Was testing needed for the same condition as James’ sisters?’

She replied: “Yes, many people will know that James sadly lost both of his sisters to cystic fibrosis. Gene testing was one of the first things we did before trying to get pregnant.

‘If we were both carriers, we had a 1 in 4 chance of having a baby with cystic fibrosis. James is a carrier, but fortunately I am not.’

Elsewhere in the Q&A, she said that successfully getting pregnant wasn’t “down to one specific thing” but that it was a “combination of things.”

She also talked about how, when she and James were trying to get pregnant, they stopped drinking and cut down on caffeine.

It comes after Tuesday night Lucy was overcome with emotion as she addressed her followers with a detailed video describing her fertility trip.

She revealed that the couple had had their problems ‘over the last few years’ and had to deal with ‘bad news after bad news’.

Taking to her YouTube channel, the mother-to-be has now opened up about how difficult it was to stay strong during her journey, describing that period of her life as a “never-ending pit of negativity.”

Revealing how she used meditation as a coping mechanism while trying to conceive, she said, “Another kind of coping mechanism for conceiving is meditation.

“I know it sounds ridiculous, but sometimes you can feel so down and so like you’re in an endless pit of negativity that you just don’t know how to feel happy.

“It’s hard because James and I have been through this. We were going through a period in our lives where it was thing after thing after thing, not just fertility related, and it could be hard for us at times to feel good and happy.”

The former Made In Chelsea star also candidly admitted that she is aware that there are no guarantees during pregnancy and that her journey could end at any time.

Overcome with emotion, Lucy took a deep breath as she continued, “I’m actually so grateful for where I am right now.

‘I am pregnant with my son. Of course, I know that this journey could end tomorrow, or the next day, like I don’t know how long this is going to last and if we’ll make it to the end or get to the point where we’ll have a baby in our arms.

“But I’m just enjoying every moment and living for every day because we fought to get here and we’re so grateful to be here.

‘I just choose to truly love every moment and it’s surreal, to this day it’s still surreal, but it’s the most amazing feeling and I really hope that anyone who’s going through a hard time can have it too experience and I hope this video helped.’

Lucy also spoke honestly about how she felt watching other people around her get pregnant, admitting it would “shine a light on her own struggles” and make her feel “alienated.”

‘TThis was a time in my life where I felt like every few weeks someone would tell me they were pregnant, and it’s the strangest feeling.

“I wouldn’t feel jealous, I wouldn’t be angry, I would feel so happy for those people. A lot of those people were people who had actually had their own struggles and I would be happy for them, but I think for me personally it would shed light on my own struggles as well.

‘It would make me feel even more alienated. It just seems like everywhere you go, everywhere you look, people have kids where you walk around and there’s just people walking down the street with their kids.

“You just feel like, ‘Why is this happening to everyone else?’ Obviously it’s not for everyone because we know that, but why does it seem to be happening for all these people and it can’t happen for me.”

She continued, “TIf there is the question, “will it ever happen?” That’s what I always struggled with, not how long it will take, but whether it will ever happen.

“I know there are people for whom it never happens and that’s why I made this video, because I thought, if there’s something I’ve said here that you might not have ever thought of, or maybe something that you’ve never tried, then it might help you.’

Lucy told her followers that she started her fertility journey three years ago, when she was 30, and that she had seen four different specialists in that time.

In describing her journey, she also revealed that towards the end of her journey, she hired a fertility coach who encouraged the couple to visualize their future with a baby.

Lucy found this exercise incredibly difficult and said: ‘I mean, I cried every time I did the visualization because I thought, “Oh my God, this just seems like it’s never going to happen for me,” but I just visualized myself would have a baby. and that I was pregnant, all these things.

‘It would make me so emotional like, “Oh my God, this is painful, why am I doing this?”

“But you have to be able to visualize it because it helps with your positivity and it helps manifest all those kinds of things that are all intertwined.”
