Texas couple Amanda Mann, 31, and Dustin Michael Lawrence, 30, are arrested after ‘injecting their infant daughter with METH to try to treat painful burns she suffered’

A Texas couple has been arrested after allegedly injecting their one-year-old daughter – at least 14 to 18 times – with methamphetamine to relieve the child’s painful burns after the child was burned by the scorching hot liquid.

Amanda Mann, 31, and Dustin Michael Lawrence, 30, were charged with abuse endangering a child, endangering a child to risk bodily harm and related offenses, police said. San Antonio Express.

The couple injected their child with the deadly drug and applied burn ointment to her skin instead of seeking medical attention when liquids boiling from the stove spilled onto her face and body, authorities say.

The burns covering her face, upper and lower body were so severe that some of her skin peeled off. Allegations include that the toddler had 14 to 18 spray marks on her skin, WSBT reported.

Both Mann and Lawrence were arrested Sunday after leaving their baby at the hospital. They are currently being held in the Bexar County Jail and their bail has been set at $450,000.

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said at a news conference Monday, “Based on the level of outright torture this baby endured, I wish there was something we could charge them with.”

It is still unclear what the exact condition of the child is. Doctors revealed that the child had burns on 17 percent of her body.

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said during a news conference Monday that the couple has six children: a 2-year-old, a 6-year-old, an 8-year-old and 2-month-old twins.

He pointed out that the newborns were born at home without medical attention in a filthy RV where they live.

Sheriff Salazar gave a grotesque account of what happened Saturday morning when the couple pulled the sheets off their baby and saw the horror.

“Her skin was peeling off and sticking to the sheets,” Salazar revealed.

Instead of taking their child to the hospital, the sheriff said the couple continued to treat her with burn ointment. When her condition worsened and she began having difficulty breathing, the pair performed chest compressions.

It was until a friend convinced Mann and Lawrence to take her to a hospital, which they did before abandoning her.

“In my opinion, these people knew they were going to be in big trouble, so they decided to keep it quiet,” Salazar said.

“Considering the level of outright torture this baby had to endure, I wish there was something we could accuse them of.”

But added that if the child does not survive, the situation changes.

Officers heard about the horrific assault on Sunday when they went to hospital. The sheriff said deputies had difficulty locating the mother, but she was eventually found in the hospital parking lot.

Another child of the couple tested positive for meth, a report said.

One of the neighbors reported the incident to the police when they saw one of their young children walking on the fence outside unattended.

Child Protective Services investigators have been involved with the family since 2020, but no legal action has been taken, WSBT reports.

The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services said the state has custody of all the children involved, but could not confirm further involvement with the family.
