Uh oh, Diablo 4 developers are teasing a Cow Level again
Like the Diablo 4 community continues to search for a secret level that may or may not actually exist. The game’s production director has acknowledged the players’ efforts and issued a piece of advice that has sparked further speculation.
Confused? Let’s rewind. Since Diablo 4‘s launch, players are on the search for a ‘secret cow level’ – a level full of armed cows, led by the Cow King. The bizarre bovine level has since been included in the series Diablo 2after it started as a hoax that the developers recognized and brought to life.
However, while Diablo 4 was released in June, players haven’t been able to find a cow level at all. In fact, in May, Diablo became managing director Rod Fergusson Kinda told Funny Games that “there is no secret level to it Diablo 4 what people might be looking for,” which you would think would have shut down the hunt completely. However, that hasn’t been the case – like PC Gamer reported Last month, dedicated members of the ‘Not Finding A Cow Level’ Discord server recently claimed that killing 666 cows in Diablo 4 will cause a relic item to drop. Some believe this could be part of the larger cow-level mystery.
In a new interview with IGN, production director Tiffany Wat and associate game director Joe Piepiora were asked directly about the cow level. While Wat initially joked that it “sounds really ridiculous”, she added: “I mean, I think I’ve heard of a lot of players killing cows.”
After Piepiora questioned players who were “poor, innocent cows in the countryside of Diablo”, Wat continued: “Poor, innocent cows in Sanctuary. I mean, Sanctuary is not a good place to be, even as a cow. However, I would like to say that if people have picked up items from their cow campaign… cow killing campaign, they should hold on to them.”
Of course, this isn’t a direct confirmation that a cow level currently exists in the game, but there’s no doubt that it will encourage hunters of it even further.
