Charles Leclerc raves about his luck after crashing out of the Brazilian Grand Prix during the formation lap when the Ferrari driver lost control in the corner

  • Charles Leclerc crashed into the barriers on the formation lap before the race
  • The same problem happened to fellow Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz last year
  • Reigning champion Max Verstappen won the sprint race for this Grand Prix

Charles Leclerc was furious at being ‘unlucky’ after crashing on the formation lap for the Brazilian Grand Prix.

The grid was proceeding according to the usual formation lap before the start of the race when the Ferrari driver lost control of the car and crashed into the barriers.

The impact broke his right front wing and forced Leclerc to jump out of the car and go back to the garage.

On the radio you heard Leclerc cursing his own bad luck and saying that the car’s hydraulic system, which supports the power steering, was defective.

The Monegasque driver shouted into the radio: ‘Why the hell am I having so much bad luck? Why the hell am I so unlucky?’

The start of the race was certainly eventful as after Leclerc crashed there was an incident on the way to the first corner.

Contact between three cars from the start caused a carnage in the first corner, leaving debris all over the track and damage to the barriers in need of repair.

Both Alpine’s Alex Albon and Haas driver Kevin Magnussen suffered damage during the collision and are out of the race.

Meanwhile, Oscar Piastri broke his rear wing, but managed to get his car back in order during the forced break.

Daniel Ricciardo also saw his car damaged, but the AlphaTauri garage managed to get the car back on the grid for the restart.

Max Verstappen is poised to secure another win as he remains on pole after an excellent sprint race win.
