Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino says Tottenham are ‘title contenders’ and he is ‘so happy’ for Ange Postecoglou

Mauricio Pochettino believes his former club Tottenham are ‘title contenders’ as the Chelsea boss revealed he is ‘so happy’ with Ange Postecoglou’s fantastic start to the season.
The Argentine 51-year-old spoke to the press ahead of his first return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday after being sacked in 2019.
When asked if he thought his former team were title contenders, Pochettino said ‘yes’ before revealing he is ‘so happy’ for the new manager and how the team has started the season.
‘I’m so happy for him and the club that things are going very well. We cannot forget what happened there. It is normal that we are very positive and grateful people,â he said.
‘When people do well at the club where I worked, we maintain these ties and we are always happy when the club does well.

‘Yes (I think they are title contenders), even though it is still very early in the season. They have very good players and a very good team.’
Asked what he thought of Chelsea’s situation compared to Spurs and whether they were underdogs heading into Monday night, he replied: “We are in a different project and situation, we are building the future. We may have a bit of a hard time at first.
‘Maybe we deserve more because of our achievements, but we are still so young. We are in a different situation. No doubt Chelsea will be in the same situation as them in the future.â
