Passengers aboard an East Coast Main Line train were stunned to see a fellow commuter with a full aquarium on board, plugged into one of the train’s electrical outlets to power the air filter.
Images show an unnamed commuter balancing the tank on a folding table while aboard the train during the summer.
The tank was full of water and came complete with live fish inside, leaving fellow commuters amused by the unusual item on board.
It is not clear where the passenger, who cannot be seen in the image, was traveling to or from.
The photo shows the glass tank carefully balanced on the commuter’s folding table, and their lap in a spacious window seat, to accommodate the bizarre item.

A fellow passenger, who captured the image in June this year, shared it online, writing: ‘You’ve heard of snakes on a plane – now prepare for the aquarium on a train.
“I was like, ‘complete respect,’ to be honest,” they added.
‘I’ve seen people take cats and dogs on the train, but he keeps the tank running, the air pumping around. He takes care of the fish.
‘He just had the aquarium with him, balancing it on the table and plugging it into the socket.
‘I thought this was the most ridiculous thing I saw on the train.’
