High school football star, 17, shot and killed by trick-or-treater on Halloween night in North Las Vegas

A Las Vegas high school football team is in mourning after one of its star players was killed in a trick-or-treat shooting on Halloween night.

Se’Mauri Norris-Johnson, 17, was reportedly among a group of teenagers wearing ski masks who exited a vehicle and approached two “young men” who were trick-or-treating Tuesday evening.

According to Las Vegas police, one of the trick-or-treaters shot at the group, resulting in the death of one of the teens.

Local media in Las Vegas reported the death as that of Johnson, a rising star for the Desert Pines High School football team.

Police arrived on scene, on the 6100 block of Shadow Oak Drive, at approximately 9:45 p.m. and pronounced the victim dead on arrival.

His football team posted a heartbreaking tribute to the talented young player on Wednesday

On Wednesday, the school’s football account wrote on X: “Sometimes things don’t add up. Gone far too young, but never forgotten.

“Our love for friends, family and loved ones has been hurt by this tragedy. Just rest, boy.’

The post was accompanied by a photo of Johnson, an outside linebacker and strong safety who wore the number 13.

Homicide detectives from the North Las Vegas Police Department have now taken over the investigation and are appealing to the public for more information.

The trick-or-treaters in question were described as “young people,” with one wearing all black, a red backpack and a black balaclava.

The second wore a white ‘Scream’ mask and both also had flashing lights on their costumes to make them more visible at night.
