Inter Miami’s search for Luis Suarez could pay off before 2024.
On Wednesday, El Pais Rreported that a deal that would see the Gremio forward reunited with former Barca teammates Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets in MLS could be completed in December.
The 36-year-old Suarez acknowledged that the MLS had contacted his Porto Alegre club mid-year. Emails have been exchanged between Miami and Gremio discussing a one-year contract for Suarez with an option to extend, the latest report shows.
Suarez will visit Miami in December to discuss contractual details with the club.
In the meantime, the Herons have already released star player Josef Martinez, making room for Suarez in the selection.

Despite his knee complications, Suarez is achieving great success in Brazil.
The former Premier League Golden Boot winner joined Gremio in December 2022 and has scored 17 goals in 37 games.
“Many things can still happen until the end of the year,” Gremio president Alberto Guerra said of Suarez’s situation.
‘We are very focused on the search for classification (a la Libertadores). At the right time, when the opportunity arises (to negotiate with Suárez), we will talk.
“Of course we want him to stay, but the latest update is mainly that he will leave at the end of this year.”
Although his time at Gremio appears to be short-lived, Suarez expressed his gratitude to the club and its fans.
“I promised the club to try to play as many games as possible,” said Suarez. ‘It’s my way of thanking them for their efforts. There were training days after the matches when Renato told me not to train, but to rest, and I went because the commitment to the club is 100 percent.’
Suarez scored 198 goals while playing for Barcelona between 2014 and 2020. A year after joining Barcelona from Liverpool, Suarez played a crucial role in the club’s five-trophy season in 2015.
Inter Miami signed Messi to a record deal in 2023, opening the door for Alba and Busquets to join. Although they missed the MLS Playoffs, Messi helped Miami win the Leagues Cup and appear in the US Open Cup final.
