Dave Hughes reveals the staggering offer he’s had for The Block house he purchased for $3 million six years ago
Dave Hughes has revealed that the house he bought on The Block is now worth a whopping $5 million.
The radio personality, 52, announced the hefty market value on Monday morning during his 2Day FM breakfast show.
Dave shelled out a whopping $3.067 million for the five-bedroom Elsternwick home in 2017, paying $447,000 over the reserve.
He was questioned about the purchase by a co-host of the program, who said the house should be worth $3.4 million.
“Well, that’s not right, that would get me in trouble, wouldn’t it,” Dave said.

He pointed out that inflation and stamp duty mean the estimate should be higher, before revealing a recent high bid.
“Was it less than five million dollars?” the co-host asked, to which Dave replied, “Similar to that.”
Dave has had many ups and downs with the property after purchasing it from Elyse Knowles and Josh Barker.
He listed the staggering rental price at $2,000 per week in 2021, but struggled to find someone who could afford the enormous price.

Hughesy had previously rented out the property in early 2018 for a reported $3,000 per week.
In 2020, the comedian managed to find a new tenant after lowering the rent to $2,000 per week.
After buying the house in 2018, he had “trouble” finding a resident and joked that he was so desperate for tenants that he would be willing to let drug dealers use the property as a “meth lab” as long as they just paid the rent.
‘The Blokhuis has been rented out. We found someone to move in with. We are very happy with that,” he told Triple M’s Hot Breakfast in January 2018.

The joker said: ‘I sent an email to my real estate agent last night around 11pm saying, ‘When is this month’s rent going to hit my bank? I haven’t seen it in a while.’
‘I had problems renting it. It took a while.’
He added: ‘At one point the real estate agent called me and said, ‘Someone wants to move in, but he has a dog.’ I felt like saying, “I don’t care if they have a meth lab!”
‘He’s a small dog and he’s fine. They installed their own dog door.”
