Mystery Premier League rapper Dide says he is a ‘voice for ALL football players’ in his first on-camera interview – as he refuses to reveal his identity but insists ‘it will make sense as the music comes out’

  • Dide is a mysterious rapper who claims to still play in the Premier League
  • The artist released music earlier this year, prompting speculation about his name
  • Arsenal duo Eddie Nketiah and Buyako Saka are among the surprising favourites

Mystery Premier League rapper Dide branded himself as a ‘voice for all footballers’ but refused to reveal his identity during his first on-camera interview.

The anonymous artist began releasing music online earlier this year and sparked wild speculation about his identity, with numerous superstars thrown into the mix.

Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah and Bukayo Saka are among the favourites, while Noni Madueke and Alex Iwobi have also been tipped as the man behind the mask.

The rapper released his first song Thrill in April and the song has since been played more than five million times on Spotify. He also has millions of viewers on YouTube.

Still hidden behind his rose mask, Dide spoke to him Sky News and delved deeper into his decision to enter the industry and why he is so desperate to remain incognito.

“I feel like Dide is a voice for footballers, for the sport,” he said.

‘Every match we are criticized, if we win, if we draw, whether you play bad or whether you play well. Adding anything outside of football is just adding more criticism. So it was easy for me to make the decision to keep the music separate.

‘My commitment and my concentration on football is 100 percent.’

Dide explained the thinking behind making music without using his real identity.

“Everyone is entitled to their own opinion,” he said. “Obviously we made the decision (to remain anonymous) and we went ahead with it. It happened more or less organically.

‘Nothing has actually been invented to fool people… The most important thing for me is the music and not so much the football player. I think fans and the public walked with all these different opinions, which is cool. But it was definitely not a marketing ploy.”

Dide's hand tattoo could have given away his identity

He also emphasized that anonymity ‘protects myself, and also protects other football players’, because his texts ‘could be about my teammate, for example’.

A large number of Dide’s followers believe former Liverpool striker Sheyi Ojo could be the mystery artist. He is currently on loan to Belgium from Championship club Cardiff City, but rose through the ranks at Anfield before leaving in 2022.

Comparisons were made between Ojo’s diamond tattoo and one on Dide’s hand.

However, the rumors will continue, with Dide not wanting to give the game away just yet. However, he has teased a possible reveal in the future.

“When the music comes out, it will make some sense,” he said. “Maybe I can reveal myself in the future. Who knows?’
