Abbey Clancy cuddles up to EastEnders’ Shaun Williamson as she imagines her life without her husband Peter Crouch in hilarious new advert

Abbey Clancy hugged EastEnders star Shaun Williamson as she imagined her life with a new man in a funny new advert.

The model, 37, imagines what her life would be like if she had rejected her husband Peter Crouch when they met in an advert for Paddy Power Games almost 20 years ago.

The tongue-in-cheek video takes a look at the sliding door moments that can define someone’s life or history, with Abbey taking center stage in the hilarious skit.

As she daydreams about what life could have been, she watches Abbey pursue a romance with Shaun, best known as Barry Evans in EastEnders, instead of Peter.

The clip starts with Abbey next to her former footballer husband Peter, 42, when a voiceover says: ‘Imagine life with a new chance, come on, let’s really imagine it!’

Fictional scenes then appear on screen reimagining various points of history and inventions, before showing a very different version of Abbey’s life.

She recreates the moment Abbey met Peter and is looking glamorous in a nightclub when – in a fictional twist – Shaun approaches her and says: ‘My mate likes you.’

However, Abbey takes one look at Peter – who is hilariously wearing a blonde wig and flashing her a cheeky grin – and dismisses his progress in rewriting history.

β€œHe’s a bit tall, isn’t he? No thanks,” she says, as her friends burst out laughing.

The clip then flashes to a new version of Abbey’s current life, with her happily snuggling up to Shaun on their sofa as they are shown coupled up instead.

With Peter nowhere to be seen, Shaun is seen giving the camera a knowing look as Abbey lies under his arm on the sofa and cuddles up to him in a funny ending to the advert.

Speaking about the Life with More Chances advert, Peter admitted it was ‘strange’ to see his wife interacting with EastEnders legend Shaun.

He admitted: ‘Watching Abbey cuddle with Barry (Shaun) was one of the strangest experiences of my life. I stood there and thought to myself, what if this really happened?!”

Fun times: Shaun said of making the advert: 'I loved working with Peter and Abbey. They are such down-to-earth, sweet people. If I had another chance to do that again, I would be happy.”

Abbey also made it clear that if she had the chance to go back in time, she would still marry Peter, but joked that she could improve his cooking skills.

‘I would marry Peter again and again. We renewed our vows last Christmas in the Maldives with our family and closest friends. But if I could go back to 20 years ago, I would definitely teach him how to cook and clean a little better,” she joked.

Speaking about the replay of his and Abbey’s meeting in a nightclub, Peter admitted it was very similar to when they first met in the Vampire room at Mosquito nightclub in Liverpool.

He said: ‘The worst thing about this advert is that it is so close to reality. I had that crazy blonde hair, super baggy jeans, that horrible shirt and those horrible shoes.

‘However, I did not take the initial approach. It was Abbey who came to me first, we started talking and it went from there. I’d like to see this put on the record.’

In reality, Peter met Abbey in a bar in Liverpool in 2005, when he was playing as a striker for the city team, and they tied the knot six years later.

They married at the Stapleford Park hotel in Leicestershire in June 2011, two years after announcing their engagement.

The couple had already welcomed their daughter Sophia Ruby, now 11, in March 2011 and have had three more children since their marriage: Liberty, seven, Johnny, four, and Jack, three.

After growing their family and being married to each other for 11 years, Abbey and Peter decided to renew their wedding vows in an intimate ceremony on December 17.

The couple planned to host the ceremony to mark their 10th wedding anniversary in 2021, but had to postpone their zoning plans until a year later due to Covid.

And they finally tied the knot for a second time in December in the presence of their four children, Abbey’s mother Karen and friends on a private island at the Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort.

The new Paddy Power Games advert will first air on Friday, October 27 on ITV2 during Big Brother.
