A reality TV star turned landlord has been criticized for her tearful video about how owning multiple properties is ‘unglamorous’.

Former Big Brother contestant Estelle Landy posted a clip on TikTok to tell her followers about the difficulties of life as a landlord.

“This is the really unglamorous side of owning property,” Landy said in an emotional and foul-mouthed video that didn’t get the sympathy she expected.

“I’ve seen so many damn people try here because I own more than one property and (they say) I’m ‘entitled’ and ‘read the room’ and ‘Why Airbnb, you are part of the problem’.

The nearly eight-minute rant prompted one commenter to accuse the 36-year-old of being “mommy and daddy’s little princess.”

Another wrote: “The Cries of a Landlord is the content I didn’t know I needed,” while a third said it was “the sweet tears of a landlord.”

Through her tears, Landy said she rents out one of her properties on Airbnbbecause two of her other properties are in Gippsland, Victoria, which she says is one of “the lowest socio-economic areas”.

“I’ve been bawling my eyes out all morning because I’ve been pushing uphill for two years, three since my mother died, with these properties,” she said.

She then described what she called “the reality for those who are actually real estate investors and are fortunate enough to own more than one property,” making air quotes when she said the words “real estate investors.”

The ex-reality star, who once boasted of being friends with Justin Bieber, said the combined value of the two homes is less than $500,000 and that one cost $200,000 when she bought it, while the other, the public housing she grew up in cost $20,000. .

The more expensive house had also fallen out of the housing commission and she said she bought it “to lift my mother and I out of absolute poverty in the ghetto.”

Landy then described in detail the difficulties she had with both properties, especially since her mother died.

“Tenant one in the $20,000 home had not paid my mother properly for ten years, but she hid it from me. When she died, I took over that property,” she said.

She also discovered that the tenant had not paid for water in all this time and that her mother had paid a large amount in advance for their water.

“So that $3,000 credit my mom had beforehand has just been sucked up by this guy who’s fucking freeloading.”

Since the man is retired, she felt sorry for him and offered him a chance to catch up on the rent owed.

“The rent is only $175 a week. He promised me… that he would catch up, and pay an extra $20 every two weeks. He gets $1,100 for his pension, not including housing allowance, which I sign the forms for… which was an extra $140 every fortnight.

‘I didn’t see a cent then. This tenant has not only not caught up on rent, but has not paid rent in two years,” she said.

Landy said she cannot get him out because of difficulties and delays in the case being heard by the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

This meant that this tenant has been ‘absolutely unable to pay rent for two years, while I have water bills, rates bills, insurance… on this property (that) is literally falling apart’.

She then spoke about the other property she owns in Gippsland, claiming the tenant had vandalized it.

“My poor kind heart allowed the man to stay there and live with my mother, because I felt that he was a companion to my mother. I thought it would be better to have someone there.”

She said he paid $200 a week in rent, despite the market value being $350.

“So yeah, I’m an idiot because of my soft heart,” she said.

“But this guy also has a disability, so I thought it would be better if he just paid the rent, and when the time comes for me to sell, it’s all good.

‘Until I had the officer pass by there the other day, because I don’t go there that often. And the real estate agent told me that the property is completely destroyed, that the value to sell it now as is is only $15,000 more than I paid for it 11 years ago.”

Landy said all the mortgage interest she paid over the years “has simply been for nothing.”

“And I’m now in a situation where I’ve been trying for two years to sell both properties and get them on the market, but I haven’t been able to do that because of the situation of the tenants.”

She also said her mortgage rate has more than doubled in recent years, from 2.99 percent to 6.5 percent.

“All the stress, anxiety and damn sadness hasn’t been worth a cent,” she said.

Landy also made an economic prediction that Australia is “headed for one of the biggest crashes on record next year.”

“The price of living is out of control, and I can tell you I wouldn’t be buying a house with a mortgage anytime soon.”

She advised people to “think twice before becoming a real estate investor – it’s coming back to bite me in the face, and today I’m sick of it.”

The reality star turned to a conspiracy theory to wrap up, saying people claim property is the safest investment, but “that is until we have a global financial crisis that is totally planned.”

However, not everyone was against Landy, with several commenters supporting her on her TikTok page.

“If they could walk in your shoes for a day, Estelle,” wrote one. “I hope this gets resolved soon.”

“I sympathize with you, stay strong, ignore the negativity,” said another.

But Landy didn’t ignore the negative comments, she fought back.

When someone wrote, “All investments are risky, you must be willing to accept them and get the right insurance and support,” Landy responded strongly.

“What part of my mother dying suddenly is part of the plan?” she replied.
