Las Vegas Grand Prix: Spectacular launch planned for Formula 1’s inaugural event

A spectacular opening ceremony with stars from the music world will herald the first Grand Prix of Las Vegas next month.
Andra Day, Bishop Briggs, J Balvin, Journey, Keith Urban, Steve Aoki, Swedish House Mafia, Thirty Seconds to Mars and will.i.am will all perform on Wednesday, November 15.
All twenty drivers will also be present at the ceremony, along with an expected crowd of 30,000 people, as Formula 1 looks to make a big impact ahead of the city’s night-time race.
“For the first ever Formula 1 Heineken Silver Las Vegas Grand Prix, it was important for us to create an opening ceremony that balances the spirit of Las Vegas with the global excitement that Formula 1 and these incredible drivers bring to each host city” , Renee Wilm, CEO of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, said.
“We are proud to partner with the very best in entertainment production to offer one of the most diverse lineups of beloved musical superstars, who will officially launch the race week festivities.”
The show begins with an immersive exhibition celebrating F1’s arrival in Las Vegas, followed by each entertainment artist’s performance paying tribute to the city’s history and ending with team and driver introductions.
In addition to musical performances, there will be performances from Blue Man Group and Cirque du Soleil, with the ceremony set against the backdrop of the iconic Las Vegas Strip on what will be the starting grid for the race.
The show is complemented by a state-of-the-art light show with 1,000 lights and 100 lasers, fireworks and a drone show.
