Frankie Dettori banned: Jockey handed 16-day ban for whip offences aboard Trawlerman and Kinross at Ascot

Frankie Dettori will serve a 16-day ban for whipping Trawlerman and Kinross at Qipco British Champions Day at Ascot.

The Italian jockey will miss the Melbourne Cup as the suspension comes into effect on November 7.

Dettori guided Trawlerman to victory in the Long Distance Cup on Saturday and finished second with Kinross in the Champions Sprint, behind Art Power.

Dettori, who retired from British racing at Ascot as he prepares to move to the US next year, was adjudged to have exceeded the permitted level of six once for both Trawlerman and Kinross and was given a ban of eight for each days earned.

He is suspended from November 7 to 11, November 13 to 18 and November 20 to 24.

Allan was handed an eight-day ban for going one above the permitted level on Champions Sprint winner Art Power and will be ruled out on November 4, November 6 to 11 and November 13.

James has been referred to the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) judicial panel after receiving his fifth suspension in the past six months for his ride on Champions Fillies & Mares winner Poptronic.
