Mamma Mia 3 ‘confirmed’ by a VERY unlikely source after film’s producer revealed Meryl Streep would return ‘if the script was right’
Mamma Mia 3 has seemingly been confirmed by a very unlikely source as a sequel to the 2008 original of the smash hit ABBA musical and its 2018 sequel.
None other than Alan Carr, who is a judge on ITV’s Mamma Mia! I Have a Dream, which aims to find new cast members for the West End production of the musical, revealing that he was even promised a role in the new film.
During an appearance on Tuesday’s Capital Breakfast show, the prankster revealed: ‘Well, I’ve got an exclusive for you, Judy Craymer, the producer, has said I’m going to be in Mamma Mia 3’
“Yes, and she said this and we had a press conference and I said ‘say it, say it’ because she had been drinking a few wines when she said it so I wanted her to say it in front of the whole press” .
Surprised by the news, presenter Sian Welby asked: ‘So like in the movies?!’.

‘The movie, yes,’ Alan replied, ‘I’m going to Hollywood baby!’.
MailOnline has contacted Judy’s representatives for comment.
It comes after the producer also hinted at plans for another film, revealing star Meryl Streep could even return after only appearing in flashbacks for 2018’s Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! after the death of her character Donna.
Narrate Deadline earlier this year: ‘I don’t want to overstate it, but I know there is a trilogy’.
“There’s a story there, and I think Meryl should come back – and if the script is right, she would, I think, because she really enjoyed playing Donna.”
The jukebox musical featuring some of ABBA’s biggest hits also starred Julie Walters, Colin Firth, Pierce Brosnan and Amanda Seyfried, with the original performance grossing an eye-watering £600 million worldwide.
It comes after viewers of Mamma Mia! I Have a Dream was stunned by the judges’ choice for the show when the first episode aired on Sunday.
The ITV show sees fourteen hopefuls competing to be cast as Sophie and Sky in a new West End adaptation of the Mamma Mia film.

Seven boys and seven girls will have to impress judges including singer Jessie Ware, comedian Alan Carr, Frozen star Samantha Barks and Glee’s Amber Riley.
But while people watching at home could understand why Samantha and Amber were booked for the jury appearance, they were less sure about Alan and Jessie.
Taking to Twitter, one person wrote: ‘As for the #MammaMia judges, I get Samantha Barks and Amber Riley, they’ve both done West End theater but I’ve never heard of ‘pop star’ Jessie Ware and although I love Alan Carr?’
