Flight attendants confess to some of the things they do onboard planes… and some of them will surprise you

Flight attendants have shared some things they’ve done on board planes that might come as a surprise to regular fliers.

In response to flight attendant confessions on Reddit, people who have worked as cabin crew commented on what they do while in a position that entails important roles and responsibilities when they are high in the sky.

Perhaps the most shocking admission came from an individual who was employed as a flight attendant by a member of the US government.

Commenting on the alleged incident, they wrote: “There was a US Senator from my home state. He’s a homophobic asshole. Before I became an FA, I waited tables and he was a customer. He talked down to me, was rude and left a lousy tip.

‘He was on one of my night shifts and every time I went down the aisle I bumped the back of his seat and woke him up. Like all night. My revenge was served ice cold.’

One user confessed that they do not always increase the temperature to the passenger’s liking when requested.

Replying to the thread, they posted: ‘When pax (passengers) ask me to turn up the temperature because they are cold, I definitely say so and then I only do it if I am cold too. Sometimes they even thank me later, even though nothing has changed.’

Another added that they’re claiming small victories against passengers who want to take up too much aisle space, writing: “I purposefully kick the passenger’s feet when they stick them out into the aisle.”

A third flight attendant revealed a more accidental accident, but one that ultimately left the passengers satisfied.

They wrote: ‘I once gave decaf coffee to an entire plane because I forgot we weren’t normal until I had already taken orders and I just didn’t feel like going back out to tell everyone what we had .

“Almost everyone thanked me for the coffee as they left and told me how much better they felt.”

A fourth shared a surprising admission that could put customers off having a cup of tea the next time they’re on a plane.

They said, ‘When I go on duty and I see that the water is brown and the galley fa (stewardess) hasn’t rinsed the coffee pot properly, I just put the tea bag in.’

Using the same trick to pick up rude or disrespectful passengers, a fifth wrote: ‘Sometimes cups fall on the floor. Sometimes I forget to throw them away. Sometimes terrible pax probably get those cups.”

After the list of confessions, one user who responded to the thread joked, “Nice try, management!”

The flight attendant admissions come after another cabin crew member revealed why using plane-supplied toilet paper is the worst thing you can do – and how to remedy the situation if you’re in trouble.

Cierra Mistt, who works for a US airline, regularly shares travel tips and tricks she’s collected after nearly three years working in the industry – including some shocking hygiene facts.

The flight attendant admitted that airplane bathrooms typically have poor quality toilet paper that tears and dissolves on contact.

“If you go to the toilet on an airplane, don’t use toilet paper,” she warned. “Use paper towels instead.” It’s better quality and won’t tear or dissolve like toilet paper.”
