‘I’ll help you look!’ Police launch second appeal for suspect, 37, nearly a year after his muscular mugshot sparked a frenzy on social media – as admirers pledge to join the search for man accused of drug offences

  • Admirers bomb police call over suspect’s mugshot
  • Police looking for Robert Rimmer wanted for alleged drug-related crimes
  • Many women said they hope to “find him first” before police

Police who launched a second appeal for a suspected drug dealer were bombarded with messages from admirers wanting to catch him first.

The mugshot of 37-year-old Robert Rimmer, who is wanted for alleged drug-related offenses and has been on the run since December 2022, was released by Humberside Police with a warning not to approach him in public.

But many women quickly swooned over the image of Rimmer wearing a form-fitting gray Nike T-shirt.

One social media user wrote: ‘Liked, shared and commented* I hope I win.’

A second woman said, “I’ll help you look.”

A third replied: ‘I’ll question him in my police outfit. Handcuffs ready.”

He is said to have links with Hull, Cheshire, Liverpool and Blackpool. He is also thought to have links to the Middle East.

It is the second time Humberside Police have requested information about Rimmer’s whereabouts.

The same mugshot of the bearded, tattooed Rimmer was used on both occasions.

The initial appeal last December was also flooded with hundreds of responses from amorous admirers hoping to catch him before the police did.

In response to the latest post from last week, one woman wrote: ‘Oh, him again…I’ll help.’

Another joked: “He’s locked in the basement.”

A police spokesperson said: ‘If you see him, or know where he is, please do not approach him but call us immediately on our non-emergency 101 line.’

The suspect is not the first to receive compliments from a police photo.

Jeremy Meeks rose to worldwide fame when he was dubbed ‘the world’s hottest criminal’ after his custody photo went viral in 2014.

Meeks has since swapped a life of crime for the catwalk and had a child with billionaire heiress Chloe Green.
