West Coast veteran Andrew Gaff’s wedding was abruptly halted on Sunday after a nearby bushfire threatened the festivities.
According to 7Sport, a fire at Bold Park in City Beach threatened lives and homes in the area, prompting the Gaff reception to be evacuated by emergency services.
Eagles teammates Elliot Yeo and Jack Darling were in attendance, along with premiership-winning hero Scott Lycett.
“We were just at a wedding and the police came and told us to leave, there’s a fire over the hill,” said one guest.

The father of Gaff’s new bride, Emma Van Woerden, was seen carrying the wedding cake from the Quarry Amphitheater.
Squatters are believed to have caused the fire. As many as 50 firefighters helped bring the fire under control.
The bushfire advice remains in place and ‘there is no threat to lives or homes’.
