Brooke Shields oozes New York chic in a cream coat and snow scarf while out with mini-daughter Grier Henchy, 17

Brooke Shields exuded New York chic when she was spotted running around Manhattan earlier this weekend.

She was accompanied by her 17-year-old daughter Grier Henchy, who followed her mother’s footsteps in the modeling profession.

The Blue Lagoon actress shares Grier and her 20-year-old daughter, Rowan, with her longtime husband Chris Henchy.

As she stepped out in New York on Saturday, Brooke wrapped up in a sleek cream coat that cinched in around her trim waist.

She additionally protected herself from the drop in autumn temperatures by complementing her coat with a white scarf.

Letting her signature brown hair fall freely over her shoulders, Brooke, 58, accentuated her still unmistakable features with make-up.

Brooke, who once told The Advocate that she was raised by her mother Terry and her gay ‘godmothers’, has been married to Chris since 2001.

Their wedding was broadcast on the comedy special Allegedly by Kathy Griffin, who starred with Brooke on Suddenly Susan and was a guest at the ceremony.

Kathy noted that Terry, an alcoholic who had a colorful relationship with Brooke, began her speech airily: “You know, I’m not even invited to this wedding.”

Chris is a screenwriter who co-created Funny Or Die with Will Ferrell and Adam McKay and has helped write several of Will’s films.

Rovan plans a career in television journalism.

To that end, she once interviewed her mother on the red carpet for Entertainment Tonight.

Grier, meanwhile, has taken a leaf out of her mother’s book and is modeling, much to Brooke’s concern.

Appearing on Live with Kelly and Mark this year, Brooke claimed that “the rules have changed since” she was a young model herself.

She has fought Grier’s aspirations for “so long”, on the grounds that fashion has become “such a different industry than it used to be”.

In Brooke’s opinion, modeling has turned into a “rat race”, unlike how the business worked in her day before social media.

Brooke also pointed out that she herself has only ever worked as a press model, unlike Grier, whose heart is on the runway.

“It’s brutal, and backstage is just brutal,” Brooke explained. ‘I never went to the runway. I don’t think I could take it.’

Still an up-and-coming actress, at just 15 years old, Brooke sparked a nationwide scandal with a modeling campaign in which she starred for Calvin Klein jeans.

In one of the ads, Brooke was given the infamous line: ‘You want to know what’s between me and my Calvins? Nothing.’

The ambiguity sparked outrage over the fact that Brooke was an underage girl, to the point that CBS and ABC banned the ad.

2021, Brooke said Vogue: ‘I didn’t think it was underwear or sexual in nature. What was shocking to me was that I said, “Oh, you knew this was happening. That’s what you were thinking. You were thinking these thoughts.”

Actress Suddenly Susan explained: “I was a child, and where I was, I was naive. I was a very sheltered, sequestered, young woman in a bubble. I think the assumption was that I was a lot smarter than I had ever been.’

Brooke recalled: “I was away when they came out and then I started hearing that the adverts were banned. The paparazzi would shout at me and my mother: “How could you!” It just struck me as so funny.’

She admitted: “At 56, I can go back and look at the camera and say, ‘Oh, they’re kind of zooming in on my crotch and then it’s on my face,’ but sex has been selling since the beginning of time.”
