Manchester City maintain unbeaten run with victory over Leicester – Women’s Super League Saturday round-up

Manchester City remain unbeaten at the top of the Women’s Super League with a 1-0 win over Leicester.

Chloe Kelly scored the only goal of the match in the 10th minute with a low shot that went under goalkeeper Janina Leitzig to end the Foxes’ unbeaten run in the WSL.

The home side were level on points at the top of the table, while City and Chelsea headed into the match but have now dropped to fourth.

Tottenham came from behind as Martha Thomas scored a hat-trick to secure a 4-2 win Aston Villa moving them up to second place in the standings.

Rachel Daly’s penalty gave Villa the advantage, but Spurs quickly got back into the game through Thomas’ equalizer before Ashleigh Neville put them ahead just before half-time.

Scotland striker Thomas then scored her hat-trick in style with two impressive goals before Lucy Parker scored a consolation in stoppage time.

Another defeat means Villa are still without points this season, while Tottenham have now won their last three league games.

Thomas’ impressive goalscoring streak means she now leads the way for the Golden Boot with six goals in four games, equaling her total from the last two seasons at Manchester United combined.
