Moment ‘Squad’ Member Ilhan Omar Rejects Reporter Who Questions Her Calls for an Israeli Ceasefire – After Her Collapse with Biden Over Hamas War
Squad member Ilhan Omar dismissed a reporter who questioned her calls for an Israeli ceasefire as a “crazy lady.”
The Minnesota representative was pressed on Capitol Hill on Friday by Fox Business reporter Hillary Vaughn on her views on the conflict in the Middle East.
Omar, 41, ignored the journalist’s questions as she entered an elevator, telling an employee: “Ignore this crazy lady, don’t worry about her.”
It came the same day she made an impassioned plea against President Joe Biden and his leadership over their support for Israel in the war against Hamas.
Omar has called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and for humanity and freedom for Palestinians.

The Minnesota representative was pressed on Capitol Hill on Friday by Fox Business reporter Hillary Vaughn on her views on the conflict in the Middle East.
Reporter Vaughn approached Representative Omar and asked, “Congressman, you have called for a ceasefire. Are you okay with Hamas terrorists continuing to exist?’
The politician did not answer and continued walking, but the journalist added: ‘Do you think Israel should just put down its arms and not try to get the hostages out of Gaza?
“How can Israel reach a ceasefire with terrorists whose entire mission is to eradicate their existence?”
An employee then asked Vaughn to move away from the elevator door as she blocked it.
But Omar said to him, ‘Ignore this crazy lady, don’t worry about her.’
The congresswoman also appeared at a press conference outside Capitol Hill along with other members of the ‘Squad’, including Representatives Summer Lee and Ayanna Pressley.
“How come we have a president who talks about releasing hostages, who talks about taking American citizens out of Israel, but who can’t bring himself to say, ‘I want to save and work to save the hundreds, save thousands of Americans. stuck in Gaza,” Omar said. ‘What’s wrong with you?’
She then highlighted how Israel has dropped 6,000 bombs on Gaza in the past ten days.
‘How is this possible? Wait, so (are) the lives of certain Americans (more) important than others?,” the politician added.

‘Is the American living in Gaza less important than the American living in Israel?
“How come you tell American citizens to go to the south of Gaza, but you can’t tell Netanyahu not to bomb the south because there are Americans there?”
Omar said it was “painful and frightening” to work with Democrats who she said blamed Muslims worldwide for the violence, although it was not clear who she was referring to.
“And not a single condemnation comes from our caucus leadership or from any member of Congress,” Omar said.
“How come – how come we serve in a body, serve in a body where there are members who condemn us because we ask for peace, for a ceasefire, the simplest thing?”
She has continued to spread messages criticizing Israel, in particular the IDF’s order for Palestinians to move south from northern Gaza.
The Minnesota Democrat argued that Israel should not fight back against Hamas and called its military efforts a “war crime.”
On Monday, Omar said she was against an Israeli military response, saying that “peace and justice will not come out of the barrel of a gun.”
She insisted that the humanity of both “innocent Palestinian civilians” and “the hundreds of innocent Israeli civilians and nine Americans murdered this weekend” must be equally honored.
“As the world condemns Hamas’ attacks, we must also oppose an Israeli military response that has already cost the lives of hundreds of Palestinians, including nearly two dozen children.”
She added: “The solution to this horror is, as always, a negotiated peace – with Israelis and Palestinians enjoying equal rights and security guarantees.

“Rather than continue unconditional arms sales and military aid to Israel, I urge the United States to finally use its diplomatic power to broker peace.”
On Thursday, she was forced to backtrack on claims blaming Israel for the hospital explosion in Gaza, which U.S. intelligence officials said did not come from the Israeli military.
Omar also posted a photo purportedly showing Palestinian children in Gaza who have been killed in the ongoing conflict in the aftermath of Hamas’s attack on Israel.
In reality, the photo shows the killing of a group of Syrian children following a 2013 sarin gas attack carried out by the country’s president, Bashar al-Assad.
The post came less than a week after Omar’s teammate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez warned against posting false information.
“The level of disinformation in all directions is incredibly high right now, especially on this platform,” AOC wrote on X.
“If you see a claim, photo or video that provokes a strong emotional response, take a moment to pause and check for veracity/corroboration from multiple sources,” the Bronx congressman added.
That warning went unheeded by Omar, who reposted the image with the caption: “CHILD GENOCIDE IN PALESTINE.”
The original image appeared in National Geographic. The caption described the children in Eastern Ghouta as having “succumbed to chemical weapons poisoning.”
The image has been removed from the congressman’s page.
