I only date men who earn ‘significantly’ more than me – and £4,000 a month isn’t enough to live on

An influencer has divided opinion after revealing she wants her husband to earn ‘a substantial amount’ more than her – claiming a monthly wage of £4,000 is ‘not enough’ to live on.

Michelle Bingley, from Leicester – host Striking TVs show Grilling – shared her opinion with influencer Margs, who came to her show as a guest.

When he asked if it would be good to earn ‘£50,000 – £60,000’ a year, she replied: ‘That’s not much’.

A stunned Margs exclaimed, “Isn’t that enough for you?” before saying it was only ‘£4,000 – £5,000’ a month.

“If I’m going to settle for a man, he has to get a pretty high wage,” she later explained.

“I want to be taken care of when I need it.”

While her guest emphasized that it is entirely possible to live on four thousand a month, the host said that it may be enough for her own resources, but “it’s not just for her.”

“Imagine if I have a child and I can’t work,” she added. “Can you now live the life I would have had without my wages?”

Michelle also said it’s “impossible” for a man to provide the lifestyle she wants – even if she can’t work – if he earns less than her.

“He couldn’t do that,” she added. ”Because I couldn’t support myself with anything less, so how is he going to support me, him and potential children?

“He just needs a lot of money.”

“I should not and will not date under what I offer and offer,” Michelle said in a comment below the video. “If you can’t match that, don’t pressure yourself.”

“I agree with her that 4,000 a month is not enough for a couple and certainly not enough if you want to start a family,” a second added.

Others said that not only are her expectations “wild,” but that the net income won’t be as high as they expect

Elsewhere, a third wrote: ‘They just don’t match. 4-5k in this economy for 2 is not that much, when you add children it becomes completely correct. Especially in big cities.’

However, others noted that not only are her expectations “wild,” but that the net income won’t be as high as they expect.

“Even if you earn a salary of £100,000 a year, you only take home £5,000 a month after tax,” one claimed. “The financial expectation level is wild these days, the lifestyle expectations are wild, social media has really screwed up reality for people.”

“I want to have a nice life and I want someone else to work to pay for it for me,” another joked.

One comment asked if Michelle was “trolling.”
