Satanic abortion rituals and visions from God led a Texas man to kill a lawyer and leave her husband for dead, the accused killer testified in court.

In bizarre and explosive testimony in his own murder trial, 40-year-old Joseph Angel Alvarez told jurors that he went to Memorial Park, near the couple’s home in El Paso, in November 2020 after God revealed to him that satanic abortions took place.

Alvarez approached the house with a gun hidden in a pizza box before breaking in.

Once inside, Alvarez allegedly shot attorney Georgette Kaufmann — whose body was found in the garage — and her husband Daniel, who survived five gunshot wounds. according to KWTX.

Alvarez described himself as a “very religious man” and testified that he ended up in the park through “divine intervention” after studying the Bible and the Book of Enoch.

In a 22-page manifesto he called “Day of Judgment,” Alvarez included photos of trees in Memorial Park under which he believed Satanists and witches were planting aborted babies, he reported. local station KFOX.

‘The trees grow distorted. There’s something strange about them,” Alvarez said.

He also believed that babies were burned alive at picnic tables and benches, and that trolls and demons would then accept them as human sacrifices.

Alvarez talked about how he started studying religious texts after he was fired from United Airlines in February 2020 for asking his coworkers if they had pre-court-martial sex.

He told the jury that he had never been in a romantic relationship and that led him to deep prayer.

Alvarez was arrested in September 2021, almost a year after the murder.

His religious studies gave him very strong feelings about pre-court-martial sex and abortions.

Alvarez put together his manifesto, which he said he emailed to several government and military agencies to convince them to roll back abortion rights.

He believes his emails helped overturn Roe v. Wade.

The day of the murder, Alvarez said, he went to the park, believing that the satanic rituals were taking place there ‘cursed’ the houses and residents in the area, the newspaper said El Paso Times.

Before the fatal shooting at Kaufmann’s home, Alvarez admitted to going to another house and ringing the doorbell. When no one answered, he went back to his car to pray.

During this prayer he claimed that a tree in the park pointed to Kaufmann’s house, and he went there.

The Kaufmanns are survived by their 18-year-old son, who was out of town on a fencing trip when his parents were shot.

Alvarez faces 99 years in prison if convicted, although his lawyers argue he is mentally ill.
