Colin Rooney: Wagatha True Story viewers mocked Wayne after he said Rebecca Vardy’s defamation trial made him want to be a lawyer.

The former England striker, 37, was considering going to law school after supporting his wife during her trial.

Coleen said on the show: “He was going to apply to law school then and he had all these plans!”

Wayne later said: ‘Yes, it was interesting because I love crime documentaries and especially the different techniques that the two lawyers used.’

Wayne revealed that he had gotten so caught up in preparing for the trial that he wanted to change careers until Coleen shut him down.

Wayne would often attend daily briefings with Colleen and her lawyers, Paul Lunt and David Sherborne, where he would propose legal arguments.

After one particular interjection from her husband, Colleen recalls telling him, “Wayne shut up and let David or Paul do the talking.”

She said: “Then he was going to apply to law school and he had all these plans,” before adding that the “little moments” carried them.

“I didn’t deal with Wayne that much before the trial. But he was just fascinated by the whole thing.

“Wayne started making, like, a legal argument that we should start running.”

Coleen’s lead barrister Paul Lunt added: “I’m not saying he’s a modern-day Columbus, but we certainly gave him a dress and a wig which he was delighted with because he asked a few questions.”

Revealing she felt compelled to put on a show to explain the situation “in her own words”, Colleen didn’t hold back as she told the story from start to finish.

When her first post was leaked in 2017, the mother-of-four revealed that there had been plenty of behind-closed-doors drama in the five years leading up to the famous Wagatta Christie trial.

After a judge ruled in Colleen’s favor after Rebecca sued her for defamation, she revealed the key elements to winning her case, as well as exactly how she was able to uncover Rebecca’s fraud in a two-year solo investigation.
