My friends and I moved from Germany to a ‘dream’ house in Byron Bay and after three days we were ready to move out: ‘Heaven and hell’

A group of four women from Germany were ‘ready to move’ from their new home in Australia just days after moving in, following a series of terrifying encounters.

In the first three days of living in their new home in Byron Bay, the German travelers were confronted with snakes, huge insects, spiders and forest fires.

People from all over the world were shocked by the friends’ experience, while Aussies joked that they had received a truly Australian welcome.

“POV: Four girls have finally found a home in Australia,” one of the women, Emi, said in one video.

She showed the four friends excitedly moving their bags into a furnished, light-filled house.

But later they started to regret it when they found a small carpet python hidden behind the front door.

They also had to remove a large huntsman spider from the living room, as well as another carpet python, and were startled by a huge cricket on the window.

After three days they had to leave the house because a forest fire was raging in a neighboring block and joked that they were ‘ready to move’.

‘This house is heaven and hell at the same time. But I hope everyone is safe,” Emi said.

The expat’s clip was viewed more than a million times on TikTok and the response was enthusiastic.

“I was supposed to fly back home that NIGHT,” one woman said, and another wrote, “The snake? Immediately no

“I never set foot in Australia,” a third commented, and a fourth agreed: “That’s why Australia isn’t on my travel list.”

Aussies found the video hilarious and some offered their advice on how to interact with local wildlife.

“Keep the snake catcher’s number handy, especially in the summer,” said a Byron resident.

‘Fair warning coming from an Australian. Those huntsman spiders can jump, especially if they are a bit smaller, they can go quite far,” warned another.

‘You need door seals for the cracks under the door. It looks like that’s how they came in. They should be at Bunnings!’ a third recommended.

“You’re getting better at catching everything, don’t worry,” one reassured the women and another laughed: “They are tenants too, leave them alone.”
