Channel Seven resurrects Big Brother Uncut 17 years after it was axed for being too raunchy for television – as host Sonia Kruger turns heads at the network’s Upfronts in Sydney

Big Brother Uncut returns to Channel Seven in the new year after the reality TV series was axed in 2006 following a raft of complaints.

The raunchy series aired on late night TV on Channel 10 from 2001 to 2006, following the family-friendly version of Big Brother.

It often depicted highly sexualized adult themes, with the network airing all the racy shenanigans that contestants got up to when they forgot the cameras were rolling.

From showering naked together to participating in steamy hookups on camera, many of the participants spent their nights getting intimate and talking about sex.

Big Brother Uncut was canceled after mounting backlash against the explicit material saw even former Prime Minister John Howard weigh in on the issue.

“This is a great opportunity for Channel 10 to do a bit of self-regulation and get this stupid program off the air,” Howard said at the time.

Now, after 17 years off air, the series will return in 2024 alongside a new season of Big Brother.

The resurrection was announced on Wednesday night at Channel Seven’s Upfronts event, where the arrivals were led by Big Brother presenter Sonia Kruger.

The media personality, 58, made sure all eyes were on her as she turned up in a stunning glittery dress for the occasion.

Dressed to impress, the blonde bombshell looked half her age in the glittering midi dress.

She completed the showstopper with a satin, dove gray business jacket with wide padded shoulders.

Sonia’s long golden locks fell in soft waves around her shoulders as she swept her signature smoky eyes and nude lip.

The Gold Logie award winner confirmed in 2020 that she would return to host the Big Brother reboot after jumping from Channel Nine to Channel Seven.

After hosting the series from 2012 to 2014, Sonia said at the time that her return as host of the ‘big daddy of reality shows’ was the ‘icing on the cake’ of her fantastic year.

“I have always loved Big Brother and this brand new series of the show will take the series to an exciting, contemporary level, making for addictive viewing,” she said.
