Good Morning Britain shakes up presenting line-up as regular host Susanna Reid takes a period of absence from show

Good Morning Britain will be shuffling their line-up to make up for the absence of Suzanne Reid.

The presenter, 52, is a regular news anchor on ITV’s breakfast show and is often joined by co-hosts Richard Medley and Ben Shepard, among others.

On Wednesday’s program, Susanna announced that she would be taking some time off from the show.

She said she would be back in two weeks, suggesting she was taking a break to spend time with her family during the half-term holiday.

The journalist shares three sons with her ex-partner Dominic Cotton – Sam (21), Finn (19) and Jack (18).

Susanna discussed the time off with her co-host Richard and fellow ITV broadcaster Lorraine Kelly.

She assured them, “I’ll be back in two weeks,” while Lorraine replied, “We’re going to miss you! Have a good time, Susanna.’

Richard chimed in and added: ‘Have a good time!’

It is not yet known who will host the show in Suzanne’s absence, but it is thought to be fellow main presenters Ben and Kate Garraway, or one of the rotating presenters, Richard, Ed Balls or Martin Lewis.

Suzanne’s departure comes after Good Morning Britain came under fire last week when the show began to focus on the exit of Holly Willoughby This Morning, instead of prioritizing the latest updates in the war between Israel and Hamas.

Viewers took to X – formerly known as Twitter – to say it was “absolutely disgraceful” presenter Suzanna and Ed started from talking about Holly’s resignation before we discuss the horrors going on in Israel.

Susanna sent her “best wishes” to the presenter, 42, while Ed, 56, said Holly’s departure was a “big loss”.

Holly resigned after the former Pizza Hut worker was taken into custody this month for allegedly plotting to kidnap and kill her.

“I just want to open the show by giving, I’m sure, all our best wishes to whoever has made what is obviously a difficult decision to step down from This Morning after 14 years on the show,” Susanna said.

“And she obviously made the right decision for her and her family, as she says, a very difficult goodbye.” But family comes first.

“Therefore, our best wishes to Holly – a beloved colleague. I’ll miss seeing her go by on her way to work.’

Ed added: “She’s had such a tough year but you’re sure she’ll be back on TV soon. We don’t know when. But she is a total star and it will be a big loss.’

However, viewers slammed the program for starting with Holly coming out because of what was happening in Israel.

In the early hours of Wednesday morning, Israeli forces launched 250 airstrikes in just one hour on the northern and eastern parts of the Gaza Strip to pave the way for a massive ground operation.

One viewer wrote: ‘Important and terrible news is happening in the world, but GMB open up to Holly Willoughby retiring from This Morning and how SHE has had a tough year. Be realistic you will!’

Other viewers said: ‘Earthquakes in Turkey, Afghanistan, floods in Israel, human suffering at its worst and this rubbish about Holly Willoughby.

‘Hello Suzanne. Absolutely disgraceful that you made such a big deal about Holly this morning at 6.02am. There is a war in Gaza #Priorities #GetAGrip.’

“That the news of Holly Willoughby’s passing this morning dominated the news of children dying in Gaza in absolute madness.” ‘

‘Holly Willoughby is leaving the TV show, so what? Why the dramatic coverage??’
