Teen Mom star Kailyn Lowry, 31, blends up her PLACENTA into a smoothie after secretly welcoming her fifth baby

Teen Mom star Kailyn Lowry has revealed she blended her placenta into a smoothie after secretly welcoming her fifth child.

In a series of photos and a video on Instagram, Kailyn shows the placenta being cut up and mixed in her kitchen as part of a practice called placentophagy.

It involves consuming the placenta after birth purported health benefits such as increasing iron levels, improving milk supply and eradicating the risk of postpartum depression.

The new mother of five boys posted on her Instagram caption that “this was the second time” she collaborated with Lancaster Placenta Company to create a placenta smoothie.

She also shared photos of the artwork she and her children created from the placenta and paint.

Kailyn’s video received 42,900 likes on Instagram and opinions on the practice were mixed.

One person wrote: ‘This (is) very cool, I love the art. Let’s normalize this: there is nothing dirty about seeing where our babies were housed for nine months.”

A second added: ‘Y’all, if you wouldn’t eat it why does it matter if she would? She’s not doing it for you lol.’

‘What is so triggering about watching Placenta? I mean it’s her house and it literally came out of her body,” a third commented.

‘Why are you posting this. I feel sick right now,” said a fourth.

It comes after Kailyn opened up about why she chose to keep the birth of her fifth child private.

She consciously wanted to take ownership of her ‘own story’ and share it on her ‘terms’.

The mother of four shocked her fans when she confirmed it welcomed her fifth childRio, the first baby she shares with boyfriend Elijah Scott, 25.

Now that the surprise over the news has subsided, the 31-year-old opened up vulnerably about what went into the madness of keeping the birth a secret.

“I wanted to be able to tell my own story on my own terms and share what information I wanted to share rather than being confined to a contractual obligation or storyline,” Kailyn shared. People.

“It feels like it’s being ripped out from under me over and over again. I kind of feel like my hands are tied.

‘People announce it to me and so I might as well talk about it. At this point, I can at least try to do it my way.”

Kailyn said her “close circle” of family and friends “clearly knew it all.”

The couple hosted an intimate baby shower that she said was “incredible.”

She asked her attendees not to bring their phones and everyone had “a great time just disconnecting” and staying present.

Although the couple planned to keep the wonderful news discreet, they “couldn’t keep (everything) as private” as they had hoped when information reportedly “started leaking out of the hospital.”

Kailyn did not take the violation of her privacy lightly and the violation was handled “internally” at the hospital.

She recalled that the leak was “one of the sadder moments” of her pregnancy.

Unlike that unfortunate time, Baby Rio came as a “pleasant surprise” for Kailyn and Elijah.

“As chaotic as it was to get pregnant again, he was such an incredible baby that it was truly a bright spot at the end of a very dark year for me,” Kailyn said lovingly.

“It was tough (last year) with the lawsuit, the depression I was dealing with and everything else. So he has really been a joy to all of us.”

Kailyn posted a short TikTok video with her voiceover accompanying a photo of her kissing her newborn baby Rio in the hospital after giving birth.

“I haven’t discussed the rumors about my fifth son and so I can do that now and just say, this is not where I was supposed to bring it up,” she said while teasing the theme of her episode on her Barely Famous podcast .

That video has so far received three million views, 137,900 likes and a lot of positive support from her followers.

One person wrote: ‘Congratulations! I mean, we knew it, lol, but I’m still glad you announced it when YOU WERE READY.”

‘Congratulations on your beautiful family. You don’t owe us anything so thank you for the little bits you share,” another added.

A third chimed in: ‘Patiently waiting for this day! I’m so happy she can announce it on her own terms!’

‘Congratulations!! Girl, you don’t owe us anything. I hated that people thought you had to tell us. I love his name!!!’ said someone else.

Despite Rio being her fifth child, she doesn’t believe she’s a professional at motherhood.

“Are you ever really going to be a parenting expert,” she asked rhetorically.

‘Because every child is so different and every experience is so different.

“I certainly wouldn’t consider myself an expert, but I’ve been around kids a few times.

“I feel like every experience is so new that I wouldn’t say I’m an expert.”

As for this “new chapter” of Kailyn’s life, she’s “adjusting accordingly” regarding “not having cameras around all the time.”

“It’s weird because it still feels like it’s a part of my life because it wasn’t that far away. It wasn’t,” she said.

‘I’m just trying to get used to normality and being able to go out and move around freely, do my shopping freely, schedule appointments freely. That was fun.

“And I’ll just keep busy with motherhood and the podcast.”

She shares sons Creed, 3, and Lux, 6, with ex Chris Lopez; Lincoln, 9, with ex Javi Marroquin; and Isaac, 13, with ex Jo Rivera.
