Emotional Kyle Sandilands tears up as he reveals the heartwarming reason he donated $20,000 to a rural hospital to buy an incubator for sick babies

Kyle Sandilands has donated $20,000 to a rural Victorian hospital so they can buy an incubator for sick newborns.

The emotional radio star, 52, said his son Otto became a father last year which made him more concerned about helping sick babies.

“I saw reports of horrible things happening to babies and I thought, ‘That’s not good.’ But when you see a sick child when you have a child, I started to melt,” he told co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson on their radio show on Tuesday.

He added that he was moved to donate because, while $20,000 meant nothing to him, it could mean the world to the parents of a sick child.

“For hospitals in the bush, incubators are donated by families. “I thought there were millions of dollars for hospital equipment, but that’s not true,” he explained.

“I was watching someone on SkyNews last night and they said that hopefully by the end of the week they will have raised enough money to buy an incubator to keep the little ones alive.

“He said they raised $5,000 and I thought I had $20,000 in my pocket right now.” I just texted host Paul Murray and told him to put me down for that,” he added.

The emotional mother then called the show to thank Kyle for his incredible act of kindness, donating to the Humpty Dumpty Foundation for Mildura Hospital.

“Without people like you, babies wouldn’t survive.” I gave birth to my son early at 24 weeks and he was in the incubator for 130 days on breathing tubes. There is no way my baby would have survived without people like you,” she told the host in tears.

Kyle previously revealed that welcoming son Otto with wife Tegan Kynaston in August last year had softened him.

The shock jock overwhelmed the child during an interview with Daily Mail Australia in October last year.

“I used to watch hours and hours of TV and now I just sit and look at him and he was really joyful,” he said.

“I just sat at home all the time which I enjoyed.” I’m home more now than I was with the lockdown, so we’re loving every second of it. I’m actually quite happy. I can’t imagine being happier.’

Kyle admitted he never dreamed of having children, but is now ‘delighted’ to have decided to take the plunge and become a dad.

In September, he discovered that Otto was already a millionaire after his great-grandfather put a huge amount of money into a fund for him.
