He explained: “I would recommend using the smaller button as often as possible to keep your water usage and bill down.”
The TikToker also posted some other simple tricks to save on your water bill, from turning off the faucet when brushing your teeth and taking fewer baths to putting bigger loads in the washing machine.

With winter approaching, many will be craving a hot bath, but filling your tub every once in a while doesn’t have to be a waste.

Use a shower timer
A viral TikTok, posted by @costoflivingcrisistips, said having a timer in the shower is a great way to ‘save money’.
Shower timers are a great way to reduce water use, but if you don’t want to buy a timer, you can also set one on your phone
The tiny hourglass timer reminds people how long they’ve been in the shower, prompting them to get out after a few minutes.
The TikTok video shows a green timer set to two minutes for kids and four minutes for adults, but there are different digital timers available where you can set your own limit.
For those who don’t want to spend their money on a timer, the bathroom expert advised setting a timer on your phone so you know when to jump out of the shower.
Mr Kinloch said that although this is a relatively simple “hack”, “cutting your shower time by just one minute could save you over £70 a year”.
