It was not clear today what the tests revealed and whether the suspect was remanded in custody after appearing in court or released on bail pending an ongoing investigation.

The latest arrest follows a string of rape arrests in Mallorca over the summer.

The most prominent were five French and one Swiss tourists after the alleged gang-rape of an 18-year-old British man at the BH Mallorca Resort in Magaluf in the early hours of August 14. They have all been remanded in custody by an investigating judge who is leading the ongoing investigation.

Two other suspects were later arrested in France on European Arrest Warrants so they could be extradited to Spain.

Less than a fortnight later, three British holidaymakers were arrested on suspicion of raping a woman at another Magaluf hotel.

The trio were detained as they tried to board a plane to Manchester.

The woman who raised the alarm, who well-placed sources said at the time was also British, claimed she had been drugged.

Last Friday, National Police officers in Mallorca arrested two Britons for the alleged rape of a third.

They met at a hotel in the east coast tourist resort of Calais de Mallorca after chatting on the gay dating app Grindr.

Police said the alleged rape victim told her alleged assailants she wanted “companionship and affection” after going to their hotel room, but nothing more.

He ended up in the hospital needing stitches.
