- But the Melbourne Demons have clarified the situation
The real reason why Clayton Oliver was hospitalized has been revealed after dirty rumors on social media.
The Melbourne Demons star went to Footscray Hospital’s emergency department on Thursday, with Herald Sun reporting that he hit his head during what the club described as a ‘medical episode’.
He underwent a CT scan and an X-ray before being cleared of any head injuries and was released early Thursday morning. It is learned that Oliver spent four hours in the hospital.
Melbourne confirmed on Thursday that the 26-year-old is now recovering at home.
The Demons also pledged to provide Oliver with any treatment and support he needs. Club doctor Laura Lallenec is working closely with the superstar’s medical team.

The Melbourne star was the subject of sordid speculation after being hospitalized
Melbourne said in a statement that Oliver had been ‘transferred to hospital by ambulance following a medical episode.’
“The hospital completed a number of tests and Clayton has since been released from the hospital and is recovering at home,” the statement said.
“The club will continue to work with Clayton and his medical team to ensure he receives all the necessary treatment.
“We ask that the media respect Clayton’s privacy at this time.”
Earlier on Thursday, sordid rumors emerged online, with shocking and unfounded rumors that he had died. Those rumors were put to bed after Melbourne’s statement.
Oliver was also the subject of health rumors earlier this season when he missed three months of football after suffering a minor hamstring strain, followed by an infected blister that sent him to hospital for four days.
There was even an unfounded rumor that he had to be hospitalized due to an infection he got while getting a tattoo.
“The other reasons suggested for him not playing are ridiculous and disappointing and difficult for Clayton and his family and friends to deal with,” Melbourne football boss Alan Richardson said at the time.
Recently, several AFL clubs have inquired about the possibility of acquiring him in a trade.
