Paddy McGuinness and Beverley Callard share a KISS after terrifying high-wire challenge for Stand Up To Cancer

Paddy McGuinness and Beverley Callard have been pitied after taking part in a terrifying challenge commissioned by Channel 4’s Stand Up To Cancer.

The TV star, 50, and the actress, 66, took part in the new series called Don’t Look Down alongside a host of other famous faces.

The show sees them face their fear of heights in a never-before-seen attempt to walk a 300ft high wire in the air over a London landmark.

And on Tuesday, Paddy and Beverley appeared on This Morning to show footage from the series of them taking part in a terrifying training challenge.

The two are seen strapped together in harnesses and falling from an impossibly high bridge as their colleagues look on in shock.

Hanging in the air, the comedian and soap opera exclaim in shock at their daring feat, shouting: ‘Oh my God!’ on several occasions.

Paddy then shouts out Beverley’s ex-husband on Coronation Street, Jim MacDonald, played by Charlie Lawson.

He shouts: ‘Where’s McDonald’s? Are you watching Jim?’

A still recovering Beverley then asks: ‘Paddy McGuinness what have we done?’ before the couple leans in to kiss.

Don’t Look Down airs on Tuesday night and will see Paddy lead a team of celebrities as they try to work together to solve dizzying challenges.

Set in a summer training camp in the Austrian Alps, over the course of six weeks, the stars will be trained to overcome their fears as they face a series of physically and mentally demanding exercises.

Taught by the world’s leading high wire walking experts, at the end of the training, the group faces the challenge of a lifetime, the most nerve-wracking high wire walk imaginable.

Alongside Paddy and Beverley, Love Island finalist Chris Hughes, footballer Anton Ferdinand, presenter and Pussick Doll Kimberley Wyatt and sports presenter and French football icon David Ginola will be taking part.

Also training to compete on the show are adventurer and motoring expert Charlie Boorman, TikTok star GK Barry, content creator and comedian Fats Timbo and Olympic cycling champion Victoria Pendleton.

The team of celebrities have all been affected by cancer in some form and are hoping to raise a significant amount for Stand Up To Cancer.

The main focus of the challenge is to encourage each individual to overcome their fears as they face a series of physically and mentally demanding exercises and tasks.

The show is supposed to be an emotional journey as they try to overcome their individual anxieties while reflecting on the impact cancer has had on their lives.

Speaking about his family links to cancer, Paddy revealed he lost his father to colon cancer and his brother had leukaemia.

Speaking with The mirrorhe revealed that he hopes to find a cure in his lifetime and is therefore committed to raising money to fund further research.

He said: “I hope, please God, that one day we’ll open a newspaper – or more likely an iPad – and see that headline, that they’ve finally found a cure for cancer.” It’s going to be amazing, it’s going to be amazing.

“So hopefully we’ll get there with that and the more people who throw in a little research money along the way, the better.”

And the show’s oldest contestant, Beverly, also revealed why she decided to take on this daring challenge.

Speaking with What to watchshe explained: “I had cancer when I was 32 – now I’m perfectly fine.

“But a dear friend of mine died in my arms a few years ago from cancer and another is now suffering from bone cancer. I even lost a very young dog to cancer.

“I think when you talk to people, it touches everyone in some way; even if it didn’t touch them personally, it touched someone they love.’

Don’t look down is being broadcast Channel 4 tonight at 9:15 p.m.
