Kerry Katona reveals Victoria Beckham sweetly called to check in on her after her marriage to Brian McFadden broke down: ‘It was so lovely!’
While Carey Katona has a lot to celebrate with the happy news that she’s embarking on another trip down the aisle, her road to romantic bliss has been pretty rocky. The Warrington native has already traveled down the aisle three times, with each marriage coming to a stormy end. And with a handful of relationships in between, it’s fair to say that the star now deserves to be met to the fullest. Below is a list of the star’s marriages and relationships.
BRIAN McFADDEN (1999-2004)
It was a match made in pop heaven when Kerry and Brian McFadden met while their bands, Atomic Kitten and Westlife, were on tour together in 1999. Their romance was such a whirlwind that Brian proposed within three months of their engagement. the couple got together and welcomed their daughter. Molly in 2001. A lavish celebrity wedding followed in 2002, and a year later they welcomed their second daughter, Lily-Sue. But alas, it was not meant to be, as the couple announced in 2004 that they were splitting up over allegations that Brian had been cheating on Carey with a dancer. A heartbroken Carrie was granted a quick divorce.
DAN CORSEY (2004)
Kerry briefly reunited with her ex Dan Corsi, who she first dated in 1998. During their time together, they visited Kerry’s native Warrington and were also seen partying up a storm at London’s hot spot of the moment Pangea. Dan boasted about putting the star to bed, saying: “I was hoping it would be all a night with Carrie. I thought it would be difficult for her to be with someone else after being with Brian for five years, but it was natural.’ However, pals reportedly feared Dan was just cashing in on Carey’s fame, amid reports he was still living with his ex while simultaneously texting another former flame. It only took six weeks of the rekindled romance before Carrie, feeling it was too soon after the breakup of her marriage to start another relationship, allegedly dumped Dan over the phone. Surprisingly, her ex-husband Brian publicly shared his thoughts on Dan, telling the Mirror at the time: ‘II’ve known him for a while and I know he’s not for her. I don’t want her to get hurt. Despite everything that’s happened, I just want her to be happy.’
DAVE CUNNINGHAM (2005)
In stark contrast to her glamorous showbiz marriage, Kerry began a romance with her former childhood sweetheart, Dave Cunningham, with the pair announcing their engagement in 2005. However, it wasn’t long before their relationship hit the rocks, and the couple got into a heated argument on holiday in Spain, amid rumors that Dave was seeing his ex-girlfriend behind her back. A source then told People: ‘Kerry is devastated. After everything she had been through this year, she truly believed that Dave could be her savior. Then came shocking revelations about his ex.’
MARK CROFT (2005-2010)
Six weeks after her split, Carrie was knocked off her feet by taxi driver Mark Croft. He proposed in 2006 after just six weeks of dating, and they married on Valentine’s Day 2007. Their marriage produced two children: daughter Heidi and son Maxwell. However, the union came during a tumultuous period in Kerry’s life, as she watched her fortune (which once reached £6.8m) decline to the point where she was declared bankrupt. During her marriage, she also notoriously appeared on ITV’s This Morning, where her slurred speech caused concern among viewers. Eventually, she admitted her addiction to cocaine, as she admitted, “I hated my life. I would lie in bed for three days straight and do coke with Mark. We did coke in our own bathroom and had a lock on the door. The children knew that if the bathroom door was locked they were not allowed in.’ After even considering suicide during their marriage, the couple divorced in 2010. Mark later admitted that he “bleed Carrie” during their ill-fated relationship.
LUCIEN LAVISCOUNT (2011)
She also dated Emily In Paris star Lucien Laviscount 12 years ago. Lucien and Carrie met during their time on Celebrity Big Brother in 2011, when he was 19 and she was 31. At the time, Lucien described Carrie as “amazing”, adding: “When I’m with her, I won’t ‘I don’t feel like there’s any age difference at all.’ At the time, Carrie called them “friends with benefits,” and later admitted they called it that because “I’d never want to take his childhood away from him!” 12 years after their whirlwind romance, Carrie broke her silence on their viral relationship by tagging Lucien as “charming” and “talented”. She said OK! Magazine recently: “Apparently my OK! The 2011 magazine cover featuring my former Celebrity Big Brother roommate Lucien Laviscount has gone viral on social media! “Lucien was very charming and obviously easy on the eye, and it was all just a bit of fun.”
STEVE ALCE (2012)
Carey famously dated artist Steve Also back in 2012 and said she was going to marry him just weeks into their relationship. After meeting at a glitzy sports dinner, he moved into her home in Cheshire just a few months later. But less than a year later, the quick romance was over. She sensationally dumped lover Steve because he was “too boring”. The reality star clashed with artist Steve and kicked him out of her house branding him “too reliable and boring”. A friend told The People: Kerry was delighted at first, she liked that he wasn’t interested in all the glitz and glamor of celebrity.’
DAN FODEN (2012)
Carrie couldn’t believe her luck when she set up a date with dashing Take Me Out contestant Dan Foden that same year, but within weeks their relationship was over. She then told a friend: “I can’t believe I pulled it off.” He’s dead on, he’s gorgeous. He has plenty of money and the best part is he has no children and no ex-wife.’ But Game of Thrones contestant Dan has struggled to keep his life in the public eye and hinted that their relationship was moving too fast.
George Kay (2012-2017)
A change of fortune seemed to be on the cards for Carrie in 2012, when she met George Kay, who was working as her driver at the time. Sparks flew between the pair, leading former rugby player George to pop the question at the top of Blackpool Tower in April 2013. Exactly one year later, more joy was brought into their home when Carrie gave birth to their daughter, Dylan-Jorge. A trip down the aisle followed in September 2014 and it seemed Carey had finally found the elusive one. But trouble hit their relationship just two months after the wedding, when George was hospitalized after showing “signs of a stroke”, leaving Carey struggling to cope. Her struggles to deal with George’s behavior led to the couple’s separation, though they would eventually reunite and renew their wedding vows. However, things would eventually come to a complete end in 2017 amid allegations of domestic violence by George. But the sadness did not end there, because in July 2019, George unexpectedly passed away at the age of 39.
JAMES ENGLISH (2017)
It only took the star a few weeks to start a new relationship after George spat on her. Proving that she’s a woman of her time, Carey went Instagram official with her handsome new boyfriend James English in 2017. And while numerous posts about her fling with the Scottish comedian were posted on social media, the couple soon quietly went their separate ways. within just two months. In fact, their breakup was so quiet that it went unnoticed until the star spoke out again about being single.
RYAN MAHONEY (2018 – present)
Carrie met personal trainer Ryan in 2018 after they matched on the dating app Bumble. The couple briefly said they had broken up after a trip to Thailand, but rekindled their romance in 2019.
After spending much of the Covid isolation together, Ryan proposed to Carrie in 2021 and they are still going strong with a wedding on the horizon.
