A young boy has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a car in a horror crash outside a Gold Coast childcare centre.

Emergency services attended the scene following an incident involving a pedestrian and a vehicle in a car park on Pine Ridge Rd in Biggera Waters just before 10am on Tuesday.

The boy reportedly crashed into the vehicle in the parking lot of the Creative Garden Early Learning Center, a police spokeswoman said.

He ended up under the vehicle which appeared to have ‘rolled backwards’.

Queensland Ambulance said the boy suffered injuries to his abdomen and leg.

He was taken ‘under lights and sirens’ to Gold Coast University in a serious condition.

The police have started an investigation, but at the moment they are treating the incident as an accident.

No charges are expected at this stage.
