TV Ratings: AFL kicks major goals for Seven in 2023 as The Voice finale triumphs

The AFL helped Channel Seven score a major ratings win in 2023, delivering a massive total audience of 62.5 million viewers this season.

Last month’s AFL Grand Final was the most-watched program of the year next to the FIFA Women’s World Cup, with a total television audience of 3.37 million across all platforms.

Collingwood’s nail-biting victory over the Brisbane Lions for the premiership managed to attract an eye-catching metro rating of 2.47 million.

A further 441,000 viewers tuned in to watch the game on 7Plus.

Futty was also a big hit for Foxtel. Oztam’s figures over the last six weeks of the season reveal that an average of 1.26 million fans tuned in to watch games on streaming video-on-demand channels including Kayo, Go and Now.

Overall, the audience for the AFL in 2023 on Seven’s free-to-air broadcasts and Fox platforms, including Foxfooty, Fox and Fox summary channels, was 142.88 million viewers.

According to Black TV boxthis means that the total broadcast audience for the AFL has increased by 20 million viewers, from 121 million in 2022.

Meanwhile, Seven scored a big win at the weekend with another major sporting event – the Bathurst 1000.

The iconic motorcycle race, which takes 6 hours to complete, brought in a metro rating of 602,000 viewers on Sunday.

The Voice final, also on Seven, was another ratings win for the network on Sunday.
