The presenter, 42, is set to miss three weeks on TV as she struggles to cope with the terror of ex-Pizza Hut worker Gavin Plumb’s plot to kidnap and kill her.

She is currently being closely guarded by the police and ITV’s security team, and insiders say she won’t be back on This Morning until after her half-month break at the end of October.

Holly was pulled from presenting the ITV show on Thursday just moments before it went to air after police tipped off bosses about the plot.

A source told the Mail on Sunday: “It’s not getting any easier for Holly as the days go by, but it’s hard to think about any kind of work at the moment, let alone when your job is to present a live television show.”

“He needs to be around his loved ones and get the right advice from the right people.”

The This Morning presenters have been in contact with her and will juggle covering her role for as long as necessary.

Holly is said to be “distraught” and seeking comfort from friends and family.

Plumb, 36, was arrested on Wednesday at his flat in Harlow, Essex, where he was allegedly found in possession of a weapon.

He is accused of incitement to murder and incitement to kidnapping in relation to the TV presenter.

Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court heard on Friday that he conspired with American hit man David Nelson to kidnap and kill Ms Willoughby.

He will appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on November 3.

Despite taking place on a Sunday night, the Pride of Britain ceremony will be broadcast on ITV on Thursday 12 October at 8pm.
