Heartbreak High stars reveal what high school was really like for them

Heartbreak High was the popular 1990s teen drama series in which students denounced racism, human rights and other real-life issues in the fictional Hartley High.

And now Netflix is ​​doing it all again for a new generation with Netflix’s modern reboot of the classic series.

Actors Josh Heuston and Asher Yasbincek told Daily Mail Australia it was fun going back to school and playing teenagers in new series.

‘I think [Heartbreak High] was by far better than my actual high school experience,” said Asher, 25, who plays Harper McLean on the series.

“We all kind of fell back into the high school mentality and it was a lot of fun,” she continued.

Meanwhile, Josh Heuston, who plays Dusty Reid, a bisexual rocker, admitted, “I was definitely not like Dusty.”

“I was hopping around in groups, so I wasn’t like him at all.

Asher, 28, who plays Harper, told Daily Mail Australia: ‘I think it was better by far than my actual high school experience’

When asked what it was like to play Dusty, Josh, 25, said, “It was good to have representation for that on the show.”

“Not many Australian television and TV shows in general show it, I think, the way Heartbreak High does. It was a great experience.’

The new reboot of Heartbreak High introduces gay and non-binary characters.

The eight-episode series is a wakeful update of the 90s high school drama that made Callan Mulvey and Ada Nicodemou household names.
