There are certain fashion details that make women extremely happy and bags are one of them. And still, the joy-inducing design element of many garments remains.
“I think function is often the last thing brands think about,” explained celebrity designer Christian Cowan. ‘Pockets are often overlooked when the overall design aesthetic is the priority.’
To solve this problem in the coolest way possible, Christian collaborated with Candy Crush on a series of clutch bags that appeared on the runway worn by a TikTok star.

“Bags have been notoriously ignored by designers, but fashion today is begging for them,” shared the designer who has dressed the likes of Lil Nas X, Lizzo and Lady Gaga.
The Christian Cowan x Candy Crush bags debuted on model Meredith Duxbury at Paris Fashion Week, in front of a VIP crowd that included Christian’s boyfriend Sam Smith.
“I love camp, but I also love function – these bags bring both and there’s no better way to showcase that than on the runway,” said Christian.
“They take an otherwise ordinary outfit and make it more fun and functional.”

An avid Candy Crush player, the candy and rainbow cascades of the game influenced Christian’s designs.
“I took inspiration from the game’s bold and playful colors, and incorporated them into my collection using textures that are used throughout (tweed + jean),” said Christian.
‘The bags are available in a range of candy-inspired shades such as bright pink, electric blue and delicious purple that mimic the aesthetic of the game. From the style and shape of the bags, to the names, the world of Candy Crush can be seen throughout.’
The pockets are deliberately oversized with the ability to be attached to any garment.
“They attach like a brooch, with four easy-to-use pins on each corner of the bag.”

The designs of the bags complimented the look Christian planned for his spring/summer 24 collection
Meredith came down the runway in a fur-trimmed pink tweed mini dress, with pockets in the same tweed fabric and embellished with silver stripes.
“I think it’s so nice how these bags felt true to myself and Candy Crush, and are made in the same fabric I showed on the runway, but at an accessible price.”
“I’ve never done a collaboration that wasn’t authentic to myself as a designer,” he said.
‘Everything always ties in with things I’ve genuinely used or loved. My designs are meant to be playful, fun and bring joy – Candy Crush exudes the same ethos!’
