7 new movies and TV shows on Netflix, Max, Prime Video and more this weekend (October 6)
We’re big fans of original movies and TV shows here at TechRadar, but we’re also happy to see that this weekend marks the return of three popular series on three different streamers: Loki on Disney Plus, She-wolf on Netflix, and Our flag means death at Max.
Halloween is also quickly approaching, and horror fans can get in the mood for a spooky season with both Total killer on Prime Video or Haunted house Disney Plus, which makes its debut on the streamer after hitting theaters in August.
Below are our picks of the best new movies and TV shows to stream this weekend on Netflix, Prime Video, Max and more.
Loki season 2 (Disney Plus)
Everyone’s favorite super-powered trickster returns to universe-hopping action this weekend Loki season 2 on DisneyPlus.
Given the downright baffling events of Loki ‘s first season, it’s probably best we just pass on Marvel’s own plot synopsis for season 2: “Loki Season 2 picks up in the aftermath of the shocking season finale, as Loki finds himself in a battle for the soul of the Time Variance Authority. Together with Mobius, Hunter B-15 and a team of new and returning characters, Loki navigates an ever-expanding and increasingly dangerous multiverse in search of Sylvie, Judge Renslayer, Miss Minutes and the truth about what it means to be a free man. wants to possess. and glorious purpose.”
So Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, and Wunmi Mosaku are all reprising their roles for Loki’s second season, which we detailed in our Loki season 2 review as a “enchanting and subversively clever sequel to Marvel’s best Disney Plus show.” Check it out, Marvel fans – and then read our Loki season 2 episode 1 post credit scene explained and Loki season 2 Temporal Loom explained articles.

The Haunted House (Disney Plus)
After debuting in theaters earlier this year to surprisingly lackluster fanfare, Disney’s was star-studded Haunted house remake is the latest addition to our new Disney Plus movie list and the streamer itself.
Once again based on the title theme park attraction, the film centers on a mother and son, Gabbie (Rosario Dawson) and Travis (Chase W. Dillon), who discover that their new home in New York is haunted by a variety of ghosts. Enlisting the help of astrophysicist Ben (LaKeith Stanfield) and other spiritual experts, they set out to exorcise their supernatural guests.
Despite (or perhaps because of) the beloved nature of the source material, critics weren’t particularly enthusiastic about the Haunted house, so don’t expect it to be part of our best Disney Plus movie guide. However, fans of the 2003 original will certainly enjoy a certain amount of nostalgia here.

The first three episodes of Our flag means death Season 2 is now available to stream on Max in the US, while the remaining six entries arrive in pairs every Thursday through October 26. British viewers will have to wait for the show’s (presumed) return to BBC iPlayer in the coming months.

Critics have described She-wolf season 3 as ‘old fashioned fun with Bond thrills and Gallic charm’, so existing fans of the series are sure to find plenty of heist-related jokes to enjoy here. One to add again to our best Netflix shows guide.

Fair Play (Netflix)
Fancy an erotic thriller this weekend? Look no further than Fair game on Netflix.
This Sundance-acquired film (one of October’s new Netflix movies) Phoebe Dynevor and Alden Ehrenreich play a newly engaged New York couple who, while working at the same high-pressure financial firm, fall out when one of them is promoted over the other.
