While most AFL players are on holiday after a long season, partying or spending time with friends and family, one Collingwood player is delivering all the extras.

Magpies defender Isaac Quaynor has been spotted in a Melbourne gym, hard at work on the treadmill, just three days after Saturday’s grand final win over Brisbane.

The 23-year-old has cemented his place in Collingwood’s backline over the past three seasons, recording his best year yet as the ‘Pies climbed to the premiership.

Quaynor took some time to cut loose and dressed up as F1 superstar Lewis Hamilton for the club’s Mad Monday celebrations.

However, on Tuesday he was found during an intense training session, with the TikTok user posting the footage with the caption ‘Didn’t this guy win a premiership three days ago?’.

The TikTok user, with the handle @daicosdelight, then turned the camera on himself with a shocked expression and said ‘what?’.

Some followers said the practice was not uncommon in professional sport, with some athletes preferring to maintain their fitness rather than rebuild it during grueling pre-season preparation.

“It’s easier to continue the fitness than have a three month break and have to start a whole preseason over to get back to that fitness level,” one person wrote.

“Preserving is much easier than winning,” said another.

“That’s discipline, knowing what’s important,” another adoring fan posted.

Others thought Quaynor’s work ethic was a good sign for Collingwood supporters who dared to dream of running again in 2024.

“A dynasty is coming next year,” one person wrote.

“Back to back baby! Hanging for next season,” another added.

“He’s playing well, keeping his place in the squad, making enough sacrifices to play at top level, maybe another premiership in 2024,” another posted.

The images come after Quaynor admitted he had been upstaged by Lions star Charlie Cameron ahead of the grand final showdown with Brisbane.

Cameron would also score three goals in the decider, leaving Quaynor determined to achieve his benchmark in 2024.

“I think what we did the first two times that didn’t work is I had a little more direct confrontation with him,” Quaynor said.

“Although it hurts my ego, he got me good a few times. If we just make sure we play our system, I’m sure it will work itself out.

“We play system defense, so I think there will be some guys who will play on him at times.
