Disney Channel alum Christy Carlson Romano reveals her MOTHER nudged her to get a boob job aged 18… after feeling ‘flat-chested’ next to Hilary Duff in Cadet Kelly

Disney Channel alum Christy Carlson Romano has revealed that her mother urged her to get a boob job as a teenager.

Christy was struggling with her body image at the time after feeling “flat-chested” at the age of 17 alongside Hilary Duff in the 2002 TV movie Cadet Kelly.

Her mother Sharon saw some ‘footage or some s***’ and said: ‘Christy, you know, if you want to get breast implants, I just want you to know that’s an option.’

She tells the story on her podcast VulnerableChristy commented, “I love my mom, she’s from a completely different generation and she was a stage mom at the time.”

Cadet Kelly deployed less than two weeks before Christy’s 18th birthday – and once she came of age, she did indeed undergo the procedure.

The Disney Channel movie was a fish-out-of-water comedy starring Hilary as Kelly Collins, an art student who ends up in military school.

As she struggles to adjust to her new, regimented lifestyle, she clashes with her strict superior: Christy’s character Cadet Captain Jennifer Stone.

Matters are complicated by the fact that both Jennifer and Kelly are in love with the same boy: Cadet Major Brad Rigby, played by Shawn Ashmore.

On the new episode of her podcast, Christy enjoyed a reunion with her Cadet Kelly co-star Andrea Lewis, and during their conversation the boob job came up.

Christy remembered wearing a tight uniform for Jennifer Stone. And I remember seeing – and this comes up a lot in memes and stuff – where I was face to face with her and I was flat-chested.”

She explained, “And so I was obviously coming of age at the time — and I was coming of age in Hollywood, more importantly.”

Sharon and Christy “looked like, you know, the footage or something, I don’t even remember what it was. And she said, “Christy, you know, if you want breast implants, I just want you to know that that’s an option.”

Christy first became a child star on the Disney Channel sitcom Even Stevens, the show that also made Shia LaBeouf a celebrity.

After the series ended in 2003, Christy spent years of her early adulthood battling personal problems, including depression and alcoholism.

“Then I started flirting with other methods of self-destruction,” she wrote in one Teen fashion essay years later. ‘I tried to scratch my skin with my fingernail because I was too scared to use a knife. “I was shocked and honestly felt like I had failed in an important race to win the ‘most tragic beautiful girl’ trophy.”

Her experiences ultimately led her to learn the lesson that “being famous should come second to creating a personally fulfilling life.”

Christy eventually went to Barnard College to get a degree in film studies – and while she was there, she met a man named Brendan Rooney, who is now her husband.

They tied the knot on New Year’s Eve 2013 in Canada and have now welcomed two daughters, Isabella, six, and Sophia, four.
